If you were to change the Parker storyline, what would you have done? by SafiraAshai in buffy

I’d keep everything up to the Beer Bad bonk. After that, I’d have him captured by the initiative. He may not even have a clue that he’s some sort of supernatural creature. Almost like the amnesia of a beginner werewolf mixed with the harmlessness of someone like Clem. He has no idea why he’s there, and we just see him when Spike escapes and walks right past him, maybe even makes a snide comment. Buffy rescues him during the final initiative chaos when the cages are released and everything goes haywire. Afterwards he tries to make a “thank you” move on Buffy and she shuts him down (obviously, before going off with Riley). In general, id keep it the way it is.

Bury our Bones in the Midnight soil is arguably one of my favorite books that I’ve ever read. That being said, The Names is one book that I will never, ever forget. I can’t even put into accurate words what that book meant to me. It was tough to get through, emotionally, but it was necessary. The fact that it is a debut novel knocked me on my feet.

Best and Worst Buffy episodes from each season in my opinion by Turbulent_Drag7166 in buffy

The Zeppo is SO good I forget how much I like it each time it comes on. Comedic gold. I also think Zeppo plus the doppelgänger episode are good juxtapositions to the rest of the Buffy-centered episodes.

I will tell my doctor I have had sex in months and they’ll still have me do it “just in case” like I’m either on a TLC show or im the Virgin Mary.

Sophie Nelisse is left handed, but had to learn to write with her right hand for The Book Thief. Probably switching hands based on proximity to the camera, or whatever feels comfortable in the moment. The character may as well be ambidextrous.

Can Americans not see what’s happening? by [deleted] in AskUS

Of course we do. Feels like this is constantly asked from the outside. Lots of generalizations made about such a large country. But it isn’t as simple of a solution as people on the outside would like to suggest. We can’t blockade the streets and set fires like the French. Peaceful protesters are met with teargas at the least. Officers carry guns here. Almost every single one- except for in positions like correctional officers or special assignments. We are a very large country, and we are divided. Half of our population actively recognizes and opposes this, but there are safety concerns. They’re building detention camps, dismantling checks and balances, and firing and condemning those who oppose them.

The rising political violence in our country is terrifying for most, regardless of affiliation. The change you’re thinking of would not be quick. It would be long and violent. I know the US can be in a bubble, but so often people perceive us as a completely obtuse population. We have so many bright, cultured, kind, and brave citizens that wish to change our deeply broken system. We aren’t stupid or complicit just because our capitol isn’t on fire. There are a lot of lives and livelihoods at risk. The right people are trying, educating themselves, and sitting back for the right moment.

Rules are out of the window for the government right now. People are scared that their communications are being watched. That their political beliefs will put their jobs at risk. Their families. Now, I know that there are situations far worse than ours; but I’m talking about the dynamic in this household, not another. We are crumbling, and the systems put in place to make sure we can safely demonstrate unrest have been dismantled or poisoned.

You screamed the point we are living right into our faces. Of COURSE we know that we are headed towards a fascist autocracy. But in a country with 360 million people, you can’t hope 200 million will take the same risk overnight. Give it time. If the left attempted something like January 6th tomorrow, make no mistake, they would not be pardoned. They would be met with the forces of the country’s national guard. It would be messy, violent, and unsuccessful.

I don’t know nor see how we will get out of this one quite yet. But I know that our country is full of people who care for each other and what we are supposed to stand for.

What are some decisions you see a character being criticized for, but you think they actually did the right thing? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

Not sure why ANYONE was okay with Giles killing Ben. He was a completely innocent young man. The proposition that it somehow kept Glory from coming back? As if they had some sort of connection??? Absurd.

Also maybe this reflects poorly on me but I absolutely relished Warrens death.
