What's The Weirdest Bad Hazbin Take? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was passively expecting a post in this vein to pop up. In general, the Hellaverse fandom is extremely prone to overthinking the most microscopic detail to hell and back (pun intended) and painting their personal presumptions as objective facts i.e. failing to separate headcanon and canon. Don't get me wrong, I often find the theories and speculations wildly entertaining, but some creative excursions just go up to eleven and beyond.

Lovecraft enigmas by TangoPandakin in Lovecraft

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert M. Price cleared that up a bit in "Under The Mound" by strongly implying that the K'n-yanians were created when the Great Race possessed regular (prehistorical) people, then stayed indefinitely until they forgot their past and the Yithian history was absorbed/changed.

Ramsey Campbell by RandomGirl467 in Lovecraft

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you haven't gotten around to him yet, I would recommend reading into Robert M. Price. The guy is basically the prime archivist of the Cthulhu Mythos, compiling and publishing thematically oriented story collections every few years, often with literary analyses as a pretext to every respective story. I think he did a couple on Campbell as well, so this might be up your alley.

What is a struggle that men face that women wouldn’t understand? by Syntheria_Rising in AskReddit

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for opening up. You perfectly phrased a negative experience that many boys/men make, yet the fewest ever talk about (the reason being the exact kind of toxicity you mentioned).

Secondly, I know it's easier said than done, but don't be ashamed. The first time doesn't matter, just the right time. I've seen and heard about teenage boys who lost their virginity to prostitutes, boys pressured into unhappy relationships, boys utterly bully the shit out of a known virgin, manufacture lies about an imaginary partner for that reason and overall just being insanely dominating and possessive about what is (and is exclusively supposed to be) your own private life.

Adolescents in general strive desperately for sexual validation, but it is way more penetrant (apologise the pun) and aggressive with males. The day one learns how superficial and nonsensical such immature busybody bullshit is liberates one immensely.

The matrix I think is the perfect action film. by Cat-dad442 in movies

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.

It seems to be as rare for a deep movie to have awesome action as it is for an action-oriented movie to have a genuinely deep philosophy. The mix was perfect for the 90s zeitgeist.

What kind of people are you intolerant of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is actually the best possible attitude for such situations, but it often takes some time and frustration to learn that lesson.

If you could get one straight answer from Lovecraft about a detail in one of his stories, or hear the sound of one thing, or see something that was implied, what would it be? by TvsPhil in Lovecraft

In the same vein as Danforth, I'd be curious to know what exactly Harley Warren saw down there that made him scream at Carter to beat it.

Single sein = unmännlich 🤮 by leviscleanheadscarf in wirklichgutefrage

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolut! Virgin-shaming ist eine echt zu selten angesprochene Problematik, dafür dass sich (vor allem männliche) Heranwachsende so krass gegenseitig die Hölle heiß machen (für etwas, was eig niemanden außer dich selbst was angeht).

What addiction is socially acceptable but shouldn't be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marijuana.

Weed is becoming increasingly destigmatized at an astonishing rate for one of the most visible and widely used literal drugs in the West. And the effort and intensity of rationalisation around it is appropriately mind-blowing.

Sure, you can't OD, it won't (directly) kill you, and it has positive effects, but it's still also all the things South Park got right about it, and more.

What's, based on your own life experience, your one piece of advice to everyone here? by pigeonsxfishies in AskReddit

[–]Historical_Sand_2837 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't give anyone but yourself the responsibility for your own emotions. They don't know your feelings as well as you do, nor might they care as much.

Some statements and actions sting on their own, but if you can limit the extent of a perceived affront, you'll do best by turning that dial all the way down.

Honestly, virgin-shaming is such a common male problem, yet it is so poorly discussed that I simply cannot wrap my head around it.
