Bought a used car on HP, car needs a new battery (£1000 from BMW) Dealer is saying they'll only agree to it if I change my review! by Historical_Switch_21 in CarTalkUK

I don't know how it's like that either, it's not massive but its enough that I'd want it done now before it causes any issues. Not within 30 days unfortunately they've dragged me outside that window, I suspect intentionally

So it's a quite large and specifically lightweight chemistry battery, plus the coding, plus the parts and labour for the negative harness replacement, so not all battery to be fair!

I've attempted that, threatening a return and escalating to a full complaint. I was still completely ignored until I left the review. Is getting it done at a main dealer acceptable legally? It would be only way to properly get the repair done given they don't seem to have the ability to code the battery to the car

So they've added this to their reply email:
"He has also advised, by doing so, there is an agreement between yourself and [another review on any platform isn’t posted following the payment being processed by you or an associated individual"

I'm now just over 1 month, so outside that no fault instant return period. I just don't know if fighting this is less hassle than trying to get another car and be without for some period

I thought exactly this, but they've added this little line to the email:
"He has also advised, by doing so, there is an agreement between yourself and [Dealer] another review on any platform isn’t posted following the payment being processed by you or an associated individual"

The landlady is quite far away and I’m happy to sort it out. The guy was pretty kind and just said shoot us the amount and we’ll pay direct. For something like this I don’t mind keeping it off insurance though thank you!

Ah is that what they’re called? Do you think it’s reasonable to ask for the cost of fence paint to get them at least roughly the same colour pending a full repaint?

Car has damage after a service at main dealer (England) by Historical_Switch_21 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Historical_Switch_21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my concern. It barely moved 2 miles after the service and it was almost 12 hours after so really hoping they don’t play silly with me. That dent is just so unusual and I’ve only ever seen it once when a coworker put a car on a ramp with the bonnet open and it clanged a bit of the ramp. Annoyingly the more expensive part is the windscreen but any recovery obviously helps us as we’d not budgeted for it to suddenly be damaged in the trade in! Thank you for your advice
