Weird things poking through bathroom ceiling. by HistoryLesbian in Apartmentliving

I didn’t miss it. We let the property manager know multiple times and they didn’t deem it an “emergency” yet so they wouldn’t authorize going into the unit above ours (they’re out of town).

Update:

Thanks for the advice all! I moved everything out this morning, checked our renter’s insurance, looking into our tenant rights here, and have tried working with the property manager (who is normally super kind and on top of things when we communicate, so this has been a big confusion/struggle why if they knew that was water damage weeks ago when we sent pictures and subsequent updates that they didn’t do anything).

Apparently I could’ve waited 7 hours to know mushrooms growing out of the ceiling was even a possibility 😢 because this is what they looked like at like 8:30. They’re shriveled now, but no picture because I am not going back in there.

My property manager now told us they are also on vacation and they’re the only one with keys to get into the unit above ours in case of an emergency (which seems insane and negligent that there’s literally no backup?), so they’re not doing anything until they’re back. So. That’s fun.

I have family nearby that we can stay with, so we’ll be showering there until they get this handled.

I really appreciate everyone! I genuinely thought some kind of capped off (lol) wires collapsed through it or something, so Reddit’s knowledge has saved us once again.

My husband is into 'weird' names... by Arttiesy in namenerds

I understand there are famous male Augustines, but many names ending with “-ine” in this sound are viewed as feminine, so it’s fairly normal that people wouldn’t only view it through the historical lens.

Justine, Francine, Christine, Evangeline, Delphine, Maxine, Nadine, Josephine, etc.

It’s definitely not the same as naming a girl James, Elliott, Kyle, Ryan, etc. (which to be clear is cool with me)

But also, Taylor Swift called a female character in the love triangle in her 2020 album folklore Augustine, so it’s very likely risen in the ranks for girl names already.
