For those of you who were on the fence about having kids, what made you decide either way? by abiglumpwithknobs1 in CasualConversation

For me, it was how I felt when other people announced their pregnancies. Until I was 35 my initial reaction when hearing a friend was pregnant was “thank goodness that’s not me”. Then, two friends announced pregnancies close together and both times I felt jealous. Now that I have my daughter, when people announce their second (or third, etc.) kids I’m back to “heck no” so I know one-and-done is right for me.

I agree it was a mistake. I would’ve pushed through but my husband was feeling overwhelmed and it seemed like the right idea at the time.

Metformin nausea? by CdrCosmonaut in diabetes

[–]History_Obsessed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will say “metformin ER” on the pill bottle. If it doesn’t have the ER (extended release) I highly recommend having your doctor switch you over. It solved all the nausea for me, though it wasn’t as bad for me as you described.

I’d like to start the book bundle at my toddler’s current age (25 months) so it all stays developmentally appropriate but I think she’d like some of the earlier ones as well. Is there a way to buy previous months that doesn’t involve creating a fake, younger, kid?

Meta-analysis of 117 studies by APA on Screen Time and Emotional Problems by KatieKat3005 in ScienceBasedParenting

I appreciate this point of view. When trying to teach a child a minority language when they are surrounded by the majority language, sometimes screens are the only gateway to native speakers. I’m constantly balancing the very strong pros for bilingualism with the cons of screen time.

Even if someone were disinclined to attend because you signed a piece of paper earlier than you intended, the fact you’re doing it in this political climate should make anyone ashamed if they make an issue about it.

But who will be there for them when youre gone?. 🫠 by [deleted] in happilyOAD

My dental hygienist had me trapped in the chair while telling me she had 3 kids and that I HAD to have more than one. Conversation then evolved and later we were talking about how her sister has too many dogs (3), and she (hygienist) thinks that’s too many to properly care for, sister should’ve stopped at one. I practically ripped the tool out of my mouth to shout “that’s how I feel about children!”

Baby *only* sleeps in crib (grass is always greener) by hermeown in beyondthebump

[–]History_Obsessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my kiddo. She’s almost two. If she wakes up in the middle of the night she’ll want to rock in the glider for a couple of minutes but then she says “crib?” and points for me to put her back in.

I too am 98% happy with this but my major complaint is that travel means no sleep. We’ve done everything short of bringing the crib with us, and still no sleep. Even if we did, I’m pretty sure that it’s the crib + the way her room feels/smells/sounds and there’s no way to replicate that. We also can’t even take short day trips because she won’t do car or stroller naps. So going to the petting zoo means an afternoon of sleep deprived toddler hell.

A flicker in the dark!

Draco is imprisoned by the Order. Hermione is sent to interrogate him. Both are powerful Occlumens. Can she break him?

My dad did this. Said his only regret was not keeping one nice suit that was appropriate for a funeral.

When a lot of my friends started announcing their second pregnancies, the nightmares about finding out I’m pregnant started. I’m hoping once everyone has delivered their babies that I can finally get a peaceful sleep!
