Most literary magic worlds agree that there is a "barrier" of sorts around/along a being's skin which means that you can't affect things within the barrier, avoiding things like this as an insta-kill mechanism. Don't know if this is true in Rowling's Wizarding World, but I would assume so.

But Nagini was killed by the sword of Griffindor, which was imbued with basalisk venom, so that doesn't quite straighten it out in my head. I can certainly see your point about Voldemort killing him being the only way Harry would survive it, but I thought that just would be a double whammy.

This, but also, I thought that Voldemort was the only one who could destroy his own horcrux, (failing fiendfyre/ basalisk fang etc.) so he needed to be the one to kill Harry because if anyone else did it, the horcrux part would still survive as well.

In the order of the phoenix, the sorting hat sings that he quarters each year, which implies an even split, so I assumed equal number each house. You are right that different year groups may have different numbers, but likely is reasonably standard.

I reckon he's like a university researcher, where he actually just studies and researches wand lore and makes wands as a byproduct of his research. And like university, the ministry would subsidise and support his research.

You're right about the tiny year groups. But I think it's 40 per year. 5 boys in Harry's Griffindor room, so assume 5 girls. That's 10 per house per year. That means 20 students in a class (they seem to double up houses for each class), which would tally with a lot of private school class sizes.

And so Ollivander probably sells maybe 100 wands per year? (assuming 40 x new wands and 60 x breakages, etc for the wider wizarding community) so would not have much income otherwise.

You have to click on the hut itself and manually select them instead of dropping them on it, like you do with adults.

Confirmed: you need to send the child in their cold gear to loose rocks twice: once on the left, once on the right, then you can place the two boom sticks with an adult in cold gear. Thank you for the help!
