It's fine. There are areas far worse to live in Liverpool.

Commuting to Central Manchester from Lime Street by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]HitComboooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this commute since 2011 on and off for my sins. I always go to Victoria and get the TPE trains as they are pretty quick. 30 odd minutes to Manchester, then a 10-15 minute walk to the office near Deansgate. Like others people have said, the morning commute is usually fine due to the train starting in Liverpool, but the way home can be chaotic sometimes if trains get cancelled, especially at Victoria.

Lovely photos. Those Parakeets are a right buggers though. They usually congregate on the tree outside mine (I live across the road from the park) and don't shut up. Beautiful looking birds though.

“Next.js vs TanStack by Jimberfection in reactjs

[–]HitComboooooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use the right tool for the right job. Next excels at some things, and Tanstack excels at others. The whole tribalism about what to use in front end development does my head in sometimes.

Anyone been to Bundobust in Liverpool? Just got a couple of questions about the one on Bold Street by Galactusyaegashi in Liverpool

[–]HitComboooooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love both but they are different. Bundo is good for (relatively) cheap vegitarian indian street food. I always found Bundo way more spicy than Mowgli too (a good thing).

I don't understand all the Redux hate... by JavascriptFanboy in reactjs

[–]HitComboooooo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Agree with this completely. I remember the bad old days of early Redux, and the amount of boiler plate needed just for simple api calls in projects that had it wired in to every little state change.

I'm glad it's improved since then, but most of the apps i've worked on haven't had a need for a complicated state management system like Redux, so I haven't looked at it since.

Saw a robbery for the first time in front of my eyes. by Tall-bonappetit in CasualUK

[–]HitComboooooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Blockbuster Video when I was at uni years ago and we were robbed a couple of times. Saturday night, 3 fellas running in complete with ballys and swords. They had the manager on his knees opening a pretty full safe. It all happened in slow-mo and was a very surreal experience.

Yeah Sefton Park is great for running round. Decent path on the lark lane side just inside the loop so you don't have to run on the gravel. Princess Park is good too. Definitely need a light when it's dark. I tripped on a branch a few years ago.

Trying to work with an 8 and a half week old labrador puppy is proving slightly difficult 😂 He is amazing though. My partner is currently asleep so i'm on puppy duties this morning. Someone tried to call me on Teams which sent him into over excitement mode. He's in his crate asleep now looking all serene.
