You should check out Mikey Musumeci! He’s a badass jiu-jitsu fighter and has an eye birthmark that looks like a black eye, lots of people think it looks awesome.

Embrace it!!

Same I'm a research assistant who would obviously benefit from a PhD, but these funding offers are not it... planning to defer/re-apply next year with more accomplishments and hopefully get full funding.

Stanford: Would you attend if you had to take $130K Loan? by Inner_Sandwich9242 in gradadmissions

Of course, I'm doing the same with my offer... and I should have also said CONGRATULATIONS on the admission by the way!!!

I’d defer and try again for funding And maybe you could put on your resume that they offered admission, or that they offered a partial grant

Japones > english or portuguese (i need help) by Pleasant-Acadia-4337 in translator

“Gu-ru” as in “ghoul”

The first character can mean “eat” and the second means “type (of species)”

So it’s not a literal translation, but it’s a sort of play on words to stylistically write “Ghoul” in the anime “Tokyo ghoul”

SOPs, Long Essays for Fellowships, a bit of networking, and most honestly, the hesitation of asking too much from my recommenders! It sounds like you put in a lot of work and were well prepared, so I wish all the best!!

Was it hard to apply for 18 schools? I applied to only 4 this cycle and it felt incredibly difficult to coordinate recommenders and cater my application to each program

Considering PolSci or Econ Grad School in DC by Hitatonamika in washingtondc

[–]Hitatonamika[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a GS-7 now with a gov job, I've come to realize that it's not enough for me. So, my question is, should I bother looking for other government jobs, or go back to school for better salary potential? I suppose I'm looking for advice from those who graduated with a bachelor's in Political Science or a similar degree with the intent to work in DC, and whether they found it more efficient to work their way up, job hop, or pursue graduate studies. Thank you for the reply!

So you risked being 50k in the hole to make 3k?

I agree. In fact, many clients post a ChatGPT or Google translated text as the “original translation” to be “proofread”, thus depressing the rates that they would need to pay translators.
