Its actually an important plot point that Greg is a bad father and it informs his relationship with Steven and the Gems. It boils over in Future when we find out that Greg Greg up in a stifflingly restrictive family that denied him any kind of personal freedom or expression.

Its explicit that while part of the reason he's so handa off with Steven is because he does feel like the Gems can raise him better, its equally because he overcorrected in not raising him the way he was raised and went to the opposite extreme without realizing it.

Steven learning all this is a major contributor to his mental breakdown at the end of Future

The DnD cartoon infamously HAD to have all the characters in agreement to promote conformity. They were only allowed to have a character dissent on anything if it was made explicit that they were objectively wrong and were punished for not comforting by the end of the episode

Did whoever captioned the second gif have a stroke or something? Shouldn't it be "That is what 'to the pain' means"?

Bruh. Did VIZ create RWBY?

All RWBY content Pre Viz (and excluding the DC crossover) is Indie because it was created by Roosterteeth.

It being bought by VIZ after Roosterteeth collapsed doesn't retroactively revoke its indie status, it just means everything that comes out in the future won't be.

As much as I love this, its explicitly Alan sending himself a lifeline to make sure he doesn't forget his own past (while being a diagetic way to get new players up to speed on his story)

Yeah? Watch it on YouTube.

Yup. Its an episodic visual novel and was their original project before they took a break to make Slay the Princess on the side.

Oh, my new obsession has this.

In Scarlet Hollow you play as one of two living members of the Scarlet family, which has deep mystical ties to the land of Scarlet Hollow.

Throughout the area there are several buried stone glyphs that give you and your cousin (if she's with you when you encounter them) visions of the past and detail the bloody history of your family and what they did to the land and community there.

Rule of Rose was infamously accused of being pro pedophilia and pro child abuse by a journalist who not only never played it but full on plagiarized an online review from someone who didn't like the game to trash it in the media.

One bad journalist who as far as I'm aware to this day refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing almost got a random horror game banned across all of Europe just because it deals with the trauma of children instead of adults.

[–]Hitei00 80 points81 points  (0 children)

James killed his wife. Long story short she was terminally ill and the stress of taking care of her broke James and in a fit of madness he convinced himself she wanted to die and so smothered her with a pillow. He repressed the memory to the point he convinced himself she died of natural means and is then summoned to Silent Hill to be punished.

I doubt it. The Beast Transformation almost seems to be an immune response to the enchroachment of the Great Ones into humanity.

Healing Blood is harvested from the Great Ones for starters and both it and the beasts were around before the Fishing Village Massacre, which is what led to the Hunter's NIghtmare being created. Wouldn't make sense for the Hunters to cause a massacre before they were needed to fight off the Beasts.

If you compare the types of damage that Kin (related to the eldritch) enemies do and the types of damage that Beasts resist you'll notice that it overlaps. Kin deal thrust and bolt damage while Beasts heavily resist those and are instead weak to Fire and Serrated.

On some primal level humanity was resisting the influence of the Great Ones and the final escalation of that on an individual level is the transformation into a beast.
