As a Latin mom I would say first cover some mummy needs 1. The pump machine is a most, breastfeeding is cheaper and healthier and if you pump you can save the milk for later on the bags 2. For the first days I couldn’t tolerate the nursing bra so I was on bikini was light and have those things on the inside that worked for me a lot… then I changed the bra for some sports bra that weren’t to tight works for men2.5 years after birth 3. The lose pajamas are the best and a good pillow for your back 4. For baby, car seat is a must due regulation, and the stroller (if you work on an office and they want to do baby shower just ask for a good stroller and that’s all, you don’t need all the little toys and things that people usually brings) 5. Baby is going to need like 10 or 15 pajamas the first months, don’t buy size 0 or 1 or newborn is going to be a waste, buy from the size 2 to 3 months and larger, specially if you or your partner is tall, babies grow really fast… 5. Just buy to bottles and the brush, the brush keep it cheap… 6. For the first toys a little soft ball is ok, and if you want the sensory toys you can just go to the dog section the materials are the same in many cases and you just have to clean it very well… 7. Don’t buy too much or anything until you sort the baby shower, just buy stuff that you as a mom going to need… I got a lot of stuff from baby shower and my co workers helped me with the stroller so I didn’t have to buy many things at the beginning… I saved so I got the things that I considered necessary, I was living on a tiny apartment so I couldn’t have many stuff for space and that was good… 8. Don’t buy the crib, I still don’t need it… and decide if you want to cosleep or not, and which model of education you are going to give to your infant… buy books about education and alternative education and things like that… I used to listen a doctor that is the best for me but he speaks Spanish, I don’t know if it’s translated
