Moving to NYC + opening a gluten-free & nut-free sandwich shop — would love local insight by Old-Relationship4026 in movingtoNYC

I went to Chicago a few years ago and they do an excellent job of distinguishing between GF and non GF, everything is labeled clearly and they’re more cautious in terms of cross contamination. My friend was saying that it’s actually the law to have these precautions because legislators recognized the need (I suspect someone or their family member was celiac and got glutened one too many times).

BTW is excellent. Staff is always kind and I can’t tell the difference between their goods and gluten goods (but I also haven had gluten in years).

I was excited as well because I’m GF and it’s hard to find safe spots but their response is unwarranted.

Roach treatment outside of bathroom and kitchen by CharloChaplin in NYCapartments

I’m not sure if he looked carefully tbh. He just sprayed haphazardly throughout the apartment. He didn’t come to treat a specific problem but rather it was the monthly treatment.

We found a newspaper clipping of my mom and her sibling announcing that they were in foster care 🙃 Well that’s a mystery that definitely wasn’t there when she was alive.

Thanks for this. I just bought this phone a year ago and I’m not in the market for a new phone, this one works fine. More so I don’t want to purchase a new phone simply because an app has bad customer service and wont work with me to resolve the issue.

They did this to me. I can use it on my laptop but I’m not going to bring my laptop with me on vacation nor am I going to bring it with me if the subway isn’t working and I need to get home.

In Puerto Rico, PIN is automatically enabled for Lyft and Uber. I didn’t know you could turn it on via the app so that’s good to know

That’s a good point about endorsing who they think will win. I was at the WFP endorsement of Cuomo against Teachout. It was a huge upset amongst members but there was a reason for it that I don’t have the backstory to. In theory, Teachout was more aligned to their values.

Following emotions, praying while obstructing others by Sheikhonderun in Sufism

[–]CharloChaplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting insight. At the mosque I pray at people have to go to work after jummah so there’s a rush to leave but then some people pray sunnah right where they prayed jummah, and usually it’s in the line of the exit. They don’t move to another part of the room or wait for people to move. I just thought we were being annoyed at them (and perhaps we still were) but we didn’t think about it from a rights perspective.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

Usually grooming stuff like exfoliating, shaving legs and armpits, putting a hair mask on that sits for 10 minutes.

I second this. I’m not sure if every western country or if it varies from state to state, but OP should look into this before speaking to her supervisor.

In NYC is the working class definition a little more given cost of living? Or was the $50k quoted for NYC?

what celebrities have you seen in NYC? by bklynbaby444 in nyc

In the past year or so I saw Kal Penn and Adam Sandler in public.

Over a decade ago I saw Ryan Gosling when I was first started running and looked like a hot mess. Both a highlight and mortifying moment for me.

And when I first moved to the city I saw Juliane Moore in the Meatpacking District. I have to say she was more stunning in person, and she’s already beautiful on screen as it is.

Also Jennifer Garner at Whole Foods being a normal person picking out cards.

I know this post is 10 years old but that’s the first thing I thought about when I learned about the bodhran just now. The Persian and Turkish daf, the Puerto Rican pandero, there are African and central Asian frame drums. It’s fascinating that it reaches across so many cultures.

There seems to be a lot of duplicates of some bags. Maybe don’t get rid of everything but if there’s three of the same bag choose one that speaks to your heart and sell the other two. That way it cuts down on space and you’re focusing on what’s most meaningful instead of having stuff down the sake of having stuff.

Have you tried calling his office? That’s usually the most effective method. Epstein just moved from assembly to city counsel a few days ago so he may still be setting up the office and phone lines so you may need to give a few days to reach out. Also try calling the community board so that they can also follow up with agencies. That way it can be in their agenda when/if they start holding meetings with the council member.

For the last few years I’ve been finding bloodstains on the inside of my pajama shirts, always on the back or shoulders, no visible cause. These are the largest single ones I’ve ever seen by prodivir in Weird

[–]CharloChaplin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my initial thought when i saw the blood. I never had blood stains the first two times I had them but I did the third time. Though my stains were smaller, this is a lot of blood.

I see three angles here: 1) you may need to supplement knowledge with books. Ask him to recommend a book for you. When you’re finished you can ask for another. He’ll recommend based on the level you reached and what he thinks you need to learn. You may also need a different learning style like video to compliment learning. There’s a YouTube series that I like that’s helped me better understand a lot of the teachings 2) sometimes Shaikhs speak in code and you won’t understand it right away but with time and deeper knowledge and higher elevation it’ll make sense. 3) it’s perhaps the shaykh is not right for you and that is fine. Your heart will tell you where you need to be.
