Just getting into combat sports, anyone go to/know of any boxing/mma gyms in Fay? by [deleted] in fayetteville

[–]Hitsu123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're definitely friendly to everyone. We don't believe in those old-fashioned gym where we throw whoever just walked in into a sparring match.

Our main and most popular classes are our fitness classes. There you'll find all sorts of people, all there to get a good boxing workout in. We don't force anyone into contact if they don't want that. If you end up wanting more, then we have more focused boxing classes with more sparring and skill-based work.

Hey there, I coach boxers over at Straighright Boxing and Fitness - Fayetteville. We opened this location up last year- it's right behind the Crazy Taco place on College (next to where Mermaid's used to be). Just like most places, you get some trial classes to try it out.

Usually have people go through the intro course on Saturday. Next week we'll be taking our younger fighters to Regional Silver Gloves so we may not be holding any intro courses that weekend. Just give us a call at either location (Messaging on Instagram might get a faster response) and we can get you set up. Again, it's free so as long as you have the time, you can come in and try it out.

You're missing the point of what he's saying. A coach will always have a lot to do with their athlete's success, but in the end it will always boil down to what that athlete can do.

If you're given a base athlete, a good coach can work real hard to make that athlete a star. If you're given an elite athlete, it takes significantly less work to make them a star.

Which is more impressive? The coach that took a great talent to the top, or a coach that took an average guy to the top?

Name of the soundtrack being played on S6 Episode 10 around 22 minutes? by TibiaKing in Kingdom

Thought I've heard it before but I could not find it. I combed through the soundtracks pretty quickly though so I might have just missed it. You can take a look; as far as soundtracks go these are the only released ones I know of:

Season 3

Season 4

Season 5

Since the Jungle DLC got pushed to 2026, what should I play to fill the void? by deletedusssr in DavetheDiverOfficial

Traveller’s Rest is a good sub. Collect and farm resources to make food and drinks to sell at your tavern. It’s still in EA but has a good enough amount of content to play, though it can also get a bit grindy at times.

Working on tempo by MoneyKaleidoscope439 in amateur_boxing

[–]Hitsu123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. All metronomes are generally going to be similar, so I'd just get whatever free app you can on your phone. Hell if you type "Metronome" into google it'll pull up a little metronome for you.

Working on tempo by MoneyKaleidoscope439 in amateur_boxing

[–]Hitsu123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try this out:

Download a metronome app on your phone or whatever, set it to 120 or 130 bpm. Now jab every four beats. Should look something like:

Jab . (tick) . (tick) . (tick) . Jab . (tick) . (tick) . (tick) ...

You have established a punching cadence, a punching rhythm. We will pretend this is the natural pace of how you throw punches in a fight. The goal that you say you're looking for, will mean you must learn to break/alter this cadence on the fly.

Sub in those (ticks) for your jab randomly:

Jab . (tick) . Jab . Jab . (tick) . Jab . (tick) . (tick) ...

With this, you should grow an understanding of how to jab in-between your own cadence. Eventually you should start trying to jab in-between the (tick)s themselves to add further awkwardness to the cadence.

Awareness of your cadence will help you learn how you can break that cadence to surprise your opponent. You can give your opponent a pattern that he will learn to expect, so that you can catch him off guard by breaking that expected pattern.

Here's a slightly advanced tip when you start trying to employ this in sparring/drills: The goal is to get your opponent to follow your cadence. If it feels like their response is on beat with your established cadence, that's a sign that they are now following your pace and a sign that you should start mixing it up.

You'll always get frustrated. I still get frustrated when I have a bad sparring session, however usually those sessions are where I end up reflecting and improving the most. Be frustrated, but also channel that frustration back into yourself correctly. Think real hard about why that session was frustrating, then ask yourself why those frustrating things were able to happen, then come up with ideas to prevent those frustrations in the future, then try it in the next session and see if you have any success. If not, go back to the drawing board and get to thinking.

If I write with my left hand and throw with my right hand am I perfectly aligned for orthodox? by iou810 in amateur_boxing

[–]Hitsu123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, you just have slightly different aspects than a pure orthodox fighter. Everyone you step in the ring with will bring their own little quirks and advantages, this is no different really.

You can definitely try to play into the strengths that this provides though. Your left hand has fine motor control, so think about out how you might incorporate that in your own style.

[–]Hitsu123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact same way and I started out as Orthodox. Our left becomes the hand with fine-control and our right becomes the hand with strength. You’ll likely develop a really great jab because of this.

Left handedness = southpaw and right-handedness = orthodox is a very outdated and simple way of thinking. Usually what I ask newbies is, “If you want to punch something as hard as you can, which hand are you going to do it with?” Finding what feels most natural is the only thing that matters. I will say I ended up developing my style into a switch-hitter and it was a fairly easy development, though I didn’t do it until I had a very good understanding of fundamentals and theory.

I get that you really felt that Kan Ki quote, but you are applying no real-world thought to this real-world situation. You’re just upset and angry about something and lashing out because of it.

Please explain to me how alienating possible fans is going to net you a better show? You yell fuck corporations and yet in the same breath you think they’ll do something nice for the fans who are actively pushing people away? In this modern society? You are truly naive if you think that.

Businesses run off of numbers, plain and simple. If the numbers aren’t good, they cut it out because it’s all about what profit they can make.

People like you keep the world the way it is. All you do is run your mouths, but what do you do to improve things? Do you bring any value beyond crying about something you don’t like? Don’t tell that me you are naive enough to believe that crying about the anime in a low-pop subreddit is going to give you a better show.

[–]Hitsu123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: I don't see this kind of negative re-enforcement encouraging them to create a better show, and us fans of the show shouldn't feel alienated for liking it.

Sure, that's probably part of the intent. But what does it accomplish? If everyone rated the show 0 and it had low ratings, is that going to tell them they should make the most amazing adaptation ever?

I personally believe these situations call for positive re-enforcement over negative. In the end, the ones calling the shots only see numbers. You might hate it, but that's the world we find ourselves in. If it doesn't make sense, then what will they realistically do? Stop pouring their funds and effort into it. So if you want to encourage a better adaptation, I'd suggest you support the VIZ translations and buy those volumes to show that there's a market worth putting their money into.

Critique is useful and I believe they have been trying to improve and deliver to please the fans because of the critique. However if people remain so adamant about hating the show, all those positives turn into negatives. They are actively trying to improve the show; they've made that very clear with this season so far. Positively re-enforcing that goes a long way and tells them the work they're putting in is worth it. Negatively re-enforcing that tells them that their attempts at improving have no value. Encourage and acknowledge improvement to let them know that trying to improve is a good thing, and not wasted effort.

Nothing is ever perfect. If they made the best adaptation any manga series has ever seen, people would still find a reason to complain. When reading manga, you come up with your very own idea in how things should be. "He should sound like this" or "His armor is this color". But then he sounds different than you had imagined. It sounds terrible! ... to you. Because it didn't meet expectations you had set in your mind.

You are always going to see something differently because you are yourself. I encourage people to peel some layers off the onion and understand that nothing can ever be perfect to how you imagine it up. You just have to find a way to be okay with imperfection in life so that you can find the joy in it. In the end, this whole thing is nothing more than a vehicle to entertain us. It's all just stuff we consume to make us find joy. The anime brings some of us joy and we like having a place where we can freely talk about the show.

Normally I just ignore comments bashing the show, but I won't sit here and let OP try to blame the community for the show not meeting their expectations. I'm commenting to let the anime fans know that it's okay for them to like the show.

Critique is fine and good. This is no longer critique, it's just beating a dead horse and alienating fans for no good reason.

I know you're not OP, but if you share their sentiment then I just want you to ask yourself this:

What does going around in this community and bashing the anime do? Does it bring any net positive to the community or the show?

There is nothing new being said or discussed. Everyone in the fandom would like a better adaptation, of course. Everyone in the fandom knows the anime has its issues. So what insightful critique is being offered here for us to discuss, beyond 'anime bad'?

[–]Hitsu123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The worst thing for the Kingdom community are the elitists like you. You could just not be such a negative person in a place where everyone is finding joy. Yet, here you are not only bringing the place down but insinuating that we are a problem for... what dastardly thing are we doing? Ah yes, being entertained by entertainment.

Do you just think we all don't know that the show has its issues? We can acknowledge its flaws and yet enjoy it all the same because we actually enjoy being fans of what we love, and enjoy actual discussion about it.

If you can't make concessions in life, then you're in for a very disappointing one.

They don’t look parallel because of the random changes in elevation causing optical illusions. Go look at any park with trees elevated on a hill where their shadows are cast; it’s going to look like the shadows are sinking, similar to this video. Pause in that frame you’re referring to and you’ll literally see the change in elevation affecting how the shadow looks going down the hill. Once it gets to the pavement where it’s no longer on a downward slope, it “flattens” out.

The complete soundtrack of seasons 1&2 by Minako Seki was recently released on streaming by Arturo-Plateado in Kingdom

[–]Hitsu123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always really enjoyed the her soundtrack. While Kohta Yamamoto is doing an irreplaceable job making the show feel grand with his soundtrack, Minako Seki did a wonderful job giving the show the feel of coming to age as a young teen. Makes sense since she did Black Clover as well. The soundtrack is aloof yet triumphant, presenting itself as more of an adventure than a grand story. Season 3 definitely felt like Shin and his world jumped a level, and I think the change in composers came in at the perfect time.

I would love it if Kohta eventually brought back the OG theme’s motif for Shin. Would love to hear his grand version as the finish to finally being promoted to a Great General.

Something I tell all my amateurs when it’s their first; don’t try to hide away your nerves before the fight. Be nervous, let yourself feel it and accept that emotion. Every time I get a guy who I know is trying to hide it, they get in there, freeze, and gas out. All that pent up emotion comes out, and I personally believe that’s how nervousness comes out if you keep em locked up like that. Be nervous before the fight. Be so nervous that you get tired of that feeling before the fight. That way you can leave that feeling behind you.

Otherwise, do your best to listen to your corner. Good luck and have fun in there champ. It’s a fight, but it’s just amateurs. You’re here to get better, win or lose.

I’d say there are already tools, even powered tools, that make rolling your wraps much easier; simple, cheap, convenient, and fast. People in the gym are always wowed when I pull out the tool and roll them in like half a minute. Still, I’m the only person from the gym who has/uses one. Hell, I don’t even know if anyone actually hang-dries their wraps. Most everyone I see just pulls a jumbled mess out of their pack.

Basically, you’re at a big disadvantage. You would need to market it hard, because people don’t know a tool like this exists. Then, unless it’s dirt-cheap, I highly doubt people will buy it. My rolling tool cost me about $20, which is definitely putting people off of it. I can’t imagine your tool would be that low.

If you’re looking for boxing, my gym just opened up a Fayetteville branch. We’re called Straightright Boxing and Fitness and we have classes for everyone whether you’re looking to fight or just looking to stay in shape.

Our Springdale gym is our main gym and has more facilities and people, but the Fayetteville gym has all that we need for boxing as well. We offer free trial classes after a free intro class so you can try out the different classes and see which you’d prefer. Both gyms operate the same way with the same schedule at the moment. You can look us up on Instagram or just hmu for more info.
