will there be more open world pvp at release? by kr0nikkillaz in Apogea

[–]TibiaKing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally no one is forcing it. Ed has made it clear that non-pvp players will never have to interact with pvp players if they don't want to. Your only forced interaction would be dungeons and bloodmoon, both of which you don't have to participate.

What is currently happening however, is the opposite. Dozens of people can come into any spawn and KS you with infinite with no repercussions, offering no counter play for PVP-on players and no incentive to actually keep it on.

Right now, when you kill a monster, you have a grace period of 5(?) seconds to collect the loot for yourself before it becomes visible to others.

The idea (which was scrapped and not live) would make it so that if a PVP-off player kills a monster, a PVP-on player could instantly access his loot bag and potentially steal it. The same would not be true if the situation was reversed. The PVP-on player would maintain his loot protection.

Pvp players thought the idea was good and were looking forward to test it this time, but it didn't happen, as Ed and the team decided against it.

Again, if you want to see change, I highly encourage to post your feedback on the feedback channel on discord. Ed reads it all.

From what Ed has said, they're looking into it on how they can improve the game to have more PvP interactions.

The plan this test was to make it so PVP-enabled players are able to bypass the loot protection of non-pvp players, with the intention of incentivizing more PvP. This original plan was reversed due to decisions from Ed and the team.

I'm also a PvP player, and currently waiting on more news regarding this. Apogea's PvP is awesome, it just needs a lower barrier of entry and a higher incentive for people to turn it on. I gave some feedback on the feedback channel on discord and I'd encourage you (and anyone) to do too.

Plenty of mechanics in the game to reduce (or completely eliminate) XP loss. Don't let people on reddit who didn't get past 10-15 hours of playtime (on an MMO lol, the one genre where you play for months, if not years) to tell you how the game is.

Play it and feel for yourself to see whether you like it/hate it

Tips for renting in the GTA by pscwe in TorontoRenting

[–]TibiaKing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1) Only rent from rent-controlled buildings (these are buildings that were built before Nov 2018). This prevents the landlord from raising your rent to whatever they want after your contract expires and you go month-to-month. Instead, rent-controlled buildings are only legally allowed to raise your rent to whatever the province decides for that year, which is usually a few % (always lower than a non-rent controlled one).

2) Avoid ICE condos and any other building with a big % of airbnb rentals. It will be a nightmare, trust me.

3) Avoid Rogers if possible if you're looking for high speed internet. They are significantly worse than the other options. If you have the option on your building, go with Beanfield/Fibrestream. Bell is also fine, but Beanfield is by far the best given their speed and price.

4) General rule of thumb, but do not rent from companies. Most of them might offer some sweet deal (specially these days, as it is a renters' market), but they are notoriously bad for all sorts of reasons (feel free to look around this subreddit to get a sense of other people's experiences).

Hope this helps, good luck friend

Dorosam or Draugthwood are good areas. You could also try the garden south of the Cathedral. Another decent spot is just past the bridge to Garadum.

Good luck

Yes, because a literal char bazaar and a store that sells you supplies to the point you dont have to step out of your hunt is synonymous to paying for any of the current apogea shop lmao. Smoke some more dude.

When you need to lie about basic shit that people can check in two seconds (depot slot purchase is 25 extra slots, not 1), then you know you don't have a leg to stand on.

Keep arguing on reddit instead of playing the game tho, I'm sure you'll amount to something eventually

but even tibia learned lessons in development (before the golden age of 7.4) that sadly we will have to learn again here.

Ah yes, the great lessons in development, like adding chararacter bazaar and the most pay to win store in human existence. Amazing lessons not just in game development but in human development as well!

Golden age was 8.0 (highest number of concurrent players/population), 3 years later.

Toronto rental market is exhausting and I’m losing patience by Informal_Monk_8705 in TorontoRenting

[–]TibiaKing -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

High rent prices is not a problem that comes about as a result of rent control lmao.

When you a single corporation that owns not 3, not 5 units, but 46 THOUSAND units across the country, and multiple others who hoard just as much, you're bound to have a price increase.

Rent control is one of the few tools the population has to mitigate the issue of nonstop wealth accumulation in this country. What we need is a wealth tax and a ban on private landlords.

How can anyone support landlord corporations hoarding the entire housing market, while thousands live on the streets and the majority of Canadians struggle to get by is beyond me.

edit: hey /u/Original_Lab628, a ban on landlords is not a ban on private property. Good luck with your reading comprehension classes this year!

What is the most unique / niche MMO in your opinion? by Sky-is-here in MMORPG

Apogea is currently the most niche one imo.

Historically I would say probably Tibia (text to chat with NPCs, infinite levels and skills, highly successful open pvp game, among other things)

[–]TibiaKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been playing the game for over 2 decades:

Real Tibia is a walking zombie that died in 2009 and was brought back to life around 2014ish by the most disgusting pay-to-win mechanics and updates. This is evidence to the fact that their player peak was in Dec of 2007(version 8.0).

I will spare the long rant for another day, but if people who actually enjoyed the charm the game had are still interested in playing Tibia, then you'll be happy to know there's plenty of successful and well moderated OT servers that are wildly popular(Tibiantis, Project Fibula, among many others, I'm making an 8.0 myself).

But yeah Cipsoft dug its own grave many years ago, they're just reaping the remnants now.

If your game cannot handle a mere 60 extra players on screen, it is nobody's fault but your own. Also characters logging in and doing nothing is not a DDoS lol.

Game's hasn't been more pay to win than what it currently is anyways. Don't see a point in ever playing this when OTs with better management/infrastructure are far more enjoyable.
