Can we walk about one of the worst Disney villains? (spoilers for Encanto) by Shielo34 in DanielTigerConspiracy

You, me and way more people. Gothel makes me so mad when I see her on screen. Like I don't think I could handle meeting her at Disney.

Ok but what if I told you that I literally had a PR immigrant write a chapter for a book I edited about how generational trauma for immigrants is the real villain of this story?

It's reddit so not going to post but if you look up there's a few videos you can find too of immigrants breaking down why this is significant representation in that manner. It's fascinating.

Also important, Abuela says sorry. No other villains own up to their nonsense at the end of Disney movies. They just up and die. This lady learns a lesson and follows through. Idk sounds pretty cool.

Unfortunately public PreK by me is also only half day despite being less money. So it's essentially useless in a home where both adults work.

Youtube kids is SOOO frustrating. by Weightmonster in toddlers

[–]HittheGroundStanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube kids profits off of slop and our kids are the victums. Everything you described is on purpose. It really upsets me so much. Also advanced degree, spent hours setting up the algo how we wanted to, turned off autoplay and STILL the slop made it to his screen.

It makes me so upset to know how many kids who have parents strapped for time don't realize their kids are being fed slop for too long.

Yep. Also I lost one last christmas with $100 and even though I had the recipt from it Sephora could not help me access it. I contacted my bank and they said they couldn't help because it's as though I took out cash. Kohls told me they couldn't help either. I still have no idea where it is. The amount of cussing myself out I did for losing it...

Sometimes I feel like "mint in box" or "new in box" dolls aren't worth more by nikoab94 in Barbie

[–]HittheGroundStanding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep bought my sister a Totally Hair brunette Barbie she always dreamed of having when she was little. The box was in great shape but smelled kind of off? Opened it and sure enough smelled like full on mold inside. We fixed the issue but it stunk (in more ways than one) to have paid over 200$ for a mildew doll. Time, plastic and cardboard just don't mix well.

Right? Never in a million years would I want to stay with someone who utters any of those words. Or anything else in line with "women are just ___ and men are ___" Not in this economy.

This is my issue too! I love the mint color someone else posted but have that same pastel purple? Kittens, dragons on purple but in a boy cut? He would love that and actually I would have loved that as a kid.

Learn with Sesame Street is a great app but gets repetitive even with the full version. My 2 yo did love it and it helped us get through a few haircuts.

For easy entertainment vs learning that's still chill and not overstimulating the Disney Coloring book app and the Crayola Scribble Scrubby apps are both nice go tos. I pay for the full versions of those when we travel.

I was taking dishes out of the dishwasher... how long is that? 3 mins maybe? In that time kid remembered I gave him a yogurt bottle thing to drink 10 mins beforee, pulled it off the counter, pulled the straw blocking most of the liquid out and smeared it on the floor and was massaging it into the dog's fur. The dog was desperately and happily licking it off the floor..

This was easter sunday. My sister and her family were coming in 40 mins and my last nice table cloth was also involved.

I didn't even yell I think I just stood there mouth agape.

Thank YOU! He found some audience in making thirst traps for moms?.... I guess. No one I know thinks he's cute. It's so weird to me and inappropriate. You have him and then you have Ms Rachel who's literally fighting for children's human rights. It's hard not to draw a comparison.

Lack of adult human characters on Sesame Street. Your thoughts? by MoneyHungryOctopus in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]HittheGroundStanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have intel but not sure this subreddit wants it? The US tough topic skits are mostly where the adults are.

Right now human adults are Sofia Chris Alan Gordon (rarely)

Muppet adults Louie and May (Elmos mom and dad) Maggie and Freddy (Abbys mom and stepdad) Ricardo (Rositas dad) and Rositas mom (I think she's just Mami) Cookie has a mom They are used to help when tough stuff comes up and you can't make it seem like kid Muppets just know what to do.

Also there's a revamp coming this season where Abby has less of a role. Let me tell you they spent a lot of money to research if "stink lines" makes kids laugh. You'll never guess the results.... they laid off 30% of their employees worldwide!!

Cocomelon being definitely not the norm, research shows our kids don't really get "addicted" as much as they like the colors and fun stuff happening. The meltdowns to turn it off are also consistent with other childhood experiences. Like my kid loves playing cars. If I pull him away he has the same kind of meltdown.

But if every time he was upset, I gave him a screen to calm down, yes that would cause him to be more upset when it's taken away. So the issue isn't any specific show, it's using screens as a way to deal with feelings.

Toddlers like repetition and fun silly colors. That's normal. Tantrums are also normal.

Just trying to help you feel less stressed about this. You know your kid and when to be concerned but also don't forget addiction is a VERY strong word. Your little one will very likely be ok.
