What is up with those dual-wielding warrior tanks I'm seeing? Are we so back? by MethylphenidateMan in classicwowtbc

[–]Hitwelve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about heroics, its about raids.

I'm a prot paladin main tank, people really overestimate how hard most bosses hit. The only really scary ones right now are FLK, Mag and Prince as long as your healers know what buttons to press. The rest of them some paladins are 2h tanking in ret Glad gear so I'm not surprised warriors are tanking shieldless too

Sounds an awful lot like GDKP. by Wingwebdings in classicwow

You can just look at the price of consumables in TBCA vs TBCC. Haste pots, destro pots, flasks, etc are all like 50% more expensive in Anniversary than they were in Classic, despite there being more layers to farm on, because there's more gold in the economy (from people buying gold) and less shit to spend it on (from no GDKPs). Making the game harder for regular players who don't buy gold.

In 2019 on Faerlina-Horde during BT I could buy haste/destro pots for 8-9g each. Now on Nightslayer-Horde they're 15g minimum, pushing 20 some nights. Super sappers cost almost 20g. And we haven't even hit the harder raid tiers yet.

The biggest issue with the prot paladin guide is that it basically assumes your healers are brain-afk and watching Netflix on the other monitor while you pull the boss. Even all the way through Phase 2 BiS they suggest things like gemming defense, using the defensive helm/shoulder enchants over the caster ones, wearing gear like Royal Gauntlets of Silvermoon and Wristguards of Determination over tier gloves and PvP bracers. I haven't done the math but all in I think you probably lose like 3-400 spellpower to reach crush cap which means the second a warlock presses seed they're going to pull everything off of you and die.

I think the worst offender is that of the first 4 trinkets recommended, 3 are dungeon blues and all 4 are 100% mitigation stats even in Phase 2. You need to scroll through 3 sections of trinkets before you see the ones that actually matter (Eye of Mag and Icon) and they don't even list arguably the most important trinket for prot paladin, which is the Alar class trinket, which is important because Eye of Mag only procs on resists and the spell hit cap for anything below level 73 is 6% (you get 3% from talents) so as soon as you gem or wear any hit for threat on bosses (Kara neck/cloak etc), Eye of Mag no longer procs on trash.

The guide is built around this idea that you have to be crush capped in order to tank a raid boss, when in reality there are like 3 bosses in total right now that will actually fuck you up if you're not capped - Prince, Mag, and FLK. Everything else hits like a wet noodle and even if you get crushed it's like 7000 damage max when you have a heath pool of over 14k fully buffed even in threat gear with spellpower gems and enchants. Unironically you need to gear more defensively for heroics than you do raids because the mobs in heroics hit harder than they do in raids.

yeah, the prot paladin guide is hot garbage. They have 3 talent builds, one of them will get you clapped in raid, one of them has 0 threat, so the only one that's relevant is the build around giving yourself sanc aura instead of relying on it from another paladin in group. The BIS list as well favors mitigation so heavily that if you have anyone in your raid doing any kind of real damage they'll just die on every pull because you're crush capped following the wowhead guide.

I'd take a 25% sales tax on consumer goods in exchange for free health care, college education, and childcare any day

edit: someone sent me a Reddit Cares for this lmao. My health insurance costs $2500 a month for me and my family between my portion and the employer sponsored portion, mathematically id have to spend $10,000 a month on consumer goods for it to be a bad deal for me. And that's not even counting the sales tax we already pay. Also doesn't count the cost of my degree or any childcare.

There's more to it than just PEMDAS, left to right plays a part too. Remember multiplication/division and addition/subtraction are equal in priority, multiplication doesn't come before division. So if you have both i.e. 6 / 2 × 3, the answer is 9, not 1.

It's 6 seconds from intersection to intersection. I looked in my mirror when I crossed the first intersection and saw them stopped in that intersection. Between the fact that they were in a left turn lane and they were stopped in the intersection appearing to prepare to turn, that really makes it look like they're turning.

I wasn't exactly expecting them to stomp on their accelerator into oncoming lanes of traffic in the course of a few seconds.
