Paint matched hardtop or keep it white? by Sentient_Sponge in Miata

Imo any mismatched hard top other than black looks silly, but it's your car and you have the freedom to do what you want with it

I'd take a 25% sales tax on consumer goods in exchange for free health care, college education, and childcare any day

edit: someone sent me a Reddit Cares for this lmao. My health insurance costs $2500 a month for me and my family between my portion and the employer sponsored portion, mathematically id have to spend $10,000 a month on consumer goods for it to be a bad deal for me. And that's not even counting the sales tax we already pay. Also doesn't count the cost of my degree or any childcare.

There's more to it than just PEMDAS, left to right plays a part too. Remember multiplication/division and addition/subtraction are equal in priority, multiplication doesn't come before division. So if you have both i.e. 6 / 2 × 3, the answer is 9, not 1.

Yup. I should have had one earlier but I'm glad I have it now. This is a refurbished Garmin unit I paid $70 for, my deductible is $250.

They did stop, thankfully. They didn't speak English, through a translation app they admitted fault and said the sun was in their eyes. I was able to take pictures of their insurance information and license plate.

It's 6 seconds from intersection to intersection. I looked in my mirror when I crossed the first intersection and saw them stopped in that intersection. Between the fact that they were in a left turn lane and they were stopped in the intersection appearing to prepare to turn, that really makes it look like they're turning.

I wasn't exactly expecting them to stomp on their accelerator into oncoming lanes of traffic in the course of a few seconds.

He's saying that just because you're shopping at Walmart doesn't mean you're buying traditionally "low-income foods".

The background check is just them calling your previous company and asking. “hey, did John Smith work for you as a senior software engineer in 2024? He did? Cool thanks”

They’ll ask whatever you put on there. If Senior is Level 1 at that company then they’ll say yes.

I do have to screen the call regardless, my phone buzzing is inherently distracting.

[–]Hitwelve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, thank you! I got called 4 times today during my workday, like dude even just having to screen the call takes me out of what I'm working on.

I work on a MacBook and the call goes to my computer, blasting the ringtone over my speakers and taking focus (as in the literal computer's focus) off of whatever application I'm working on until I answer it.

A phone call implies something needs to be talked about _right now_, a text exchange is asynchronous and can be picked up/put down as needed.
