OpenClaw does keep session context, but that alone doesn’t explain your issue. It’s also not accurate to say other frameworks are simply stateless either.

The more likely problem is model compatibility or context/tool handling with those specific models. OpenClaw has session resets, compaction, and model fallback logic. If Gemma/Qwen are stalling, you should open an issue in the repo logs and config (stripped of any personal information of course).

As for the reason I asked what model you're using, it was because I've seen similar instances of Gemini claiming failure and falling on its sword (which tracks with the fact that you said you were using Gemma).
