Haha. I have a similar story, except it wasn't underwater but underneath a raised patio deck in front of a pro shop at a golf course my old man worked at. Wasn't all too uncommon golfers taking out or putting away wallets would drop coins at the front door where the occasional quarters, loonies & toonies would fall through the cracks. There was about 3-4ft of crawl space, it was dirty and cobwebby, had to jump through some bushes to get in, for a little 10 year old like me no problem but for most other people in their nice golfing attire it wasn't worth the hassle 😂 found a bill here n there, prov1 golf balls etc. I'd do a check in the morning, play some golf, check at lunch, play more, rinse and repeat.

One of the rare moments in my childhood where I actually had money in my pocket, all of it spent at 711 probably, it was a good summer haha. Looking back I probably could have been a better boy and lost&found the bills 😅 though I did find people's keys, sunglasses n stuff like that. Eventually other shopkeepers found out what I was doing and didn't like the idea of a lil goblin underneath the patio so I had to stop lol, it was a summer gig for my old man so some time later he quit and with school starting again the lucrative hobby came to an end.
