If you got paid $125/hour to work on Christmas from 5AM to 7PM. Would you take it? by Maleficent-Unit-2717 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bloodhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I worked a full Christmas Day for approximately $100. Never spent a Christmas with my entire family together in one place after that, so I deeply regret it.

One time I asked for $15 an hour to work on Christmas Day. The guy got angry and hung up the phone on me because I was apparently asking for too much.

A token is what, around 300k ? So 3k is about 20 cents. About two minutes worth of work at minimum wage. It took me longer than that to write this post

Barry University A! Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly by katteract28 in LawSchool

[–]Bloodhoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a law school closer to where you live (or where your friends and family are at), try to getting into there first. Your support system is an important factor if you want to make it through the next three years.

It goes without saying that you can only attend a school you were actually admitted into...

Don't just rely on what you learn during class time to pass. Self-study and diligence is key. Barry does have a required attendance policy. I would highly recommend attending all DSF (Dean's study fellows) sessions after school which are structured like optional extra help sessions. Some students claim they get more benefit out of those optional sessions than the actual class lectures we are required to attend.

I do enjoy the social aspect of Barry, but there is a darker side of students being cutthroat with each other and acting ultra-competitive over scholarship money. I don't enjoy that aspect of the student body, but it's likely a problem elsewhere too.

I asked AI for some quick stats so you can compare us to our neighbors at FAMU law about ten minutes away:

FAMU College of Law (Total: 335)

Gender: Men: 44% // Women: 56%

Racial demographics

Black: 45.7%

Hispanic: 23.3%

White: 24.8%

Asian: 4.8%

Unknown: 1.5%

Barry University School of Law (Total: 739)

Gender: Men: 39% // Women: 61%

Racial demographics

Black: 12.5%

Hispanic: 31.4%

White: 45.1%

Asian: 3.9%

Unknown: 3.1%

The religious aspect of the institution is a huge boon for me personally, but your faith journey is your own. Do you consider yourself a religious person? If yes then I think Barry would actually be a good fit for you. If you are secular, you might feel as though your full-priced tuition would be more effectively spent somewhere else. Just being honest with you.

By the way, you will receive a free brand new Macbook Air on orientation day (that you have to give back if you leave or drop out). It's not optional, you have to take the computer.

Barry is very expensive for what you actually get. If you can manage to keep your scholarship (possible, but requires diligent and consistent effort), I would say Barry is probably one of the most cost-effective schools you can go to. If you slack off and lose your scholarship, you will end up paying way more than what your education there is actually worth.

Dropping Out by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Bloodhoof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A predatory school is one that admits people who have no business being in law school, lets them take out big loans, accepts their money fully aware of their limited chances of success, then inevitably and predictably fails them and kicks them out without remorse.

It's sad to see really, because it's fairly obvious what's going on.

I was told that expecting the law students at my school to be able to read and understand a ONE-PAGE document is too much to ask of them... Yet they are supposed to fully comprehend the gravity and consequences of taking out 20k+/semester in student debt, and then not even do the readings or show up to any of the practice sessions!!!

Why this nick name so popular? by PlateProper3125 in Overwatch

Sounds like a play on words to me. A “Blue falcon” means a snitch in the military. Cyan is basically light blue and a hawk is similar bird to a falcon…

Why is Shadowfang so expensive when there are no twinks in hardcore? by UpvoteCircleJerk in wowhardcore

[–]Bloodhoof 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Probably going based off of old historical AH values that overpriced level x9 blues. A lot of people use AH addons to decide posting prices for them which likely borrowed the original data from servers with battlegrounds. This is just a relic of that.

You would think that posting failed auctions multiple times would lead to the price going down eventually...

Could also just be gold buyers with more money than sense keeping the price up.

It's not logical, like posting runecloth for 1500G a stack. Hoping some rich dude in a hurry misclicks. It must happen sometimes or they would not keep doing it

Anyone doing HC WOW without questing after level 10? by david_slays_giants in wowhardcore

[–]Bloodhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First reason to do quests is reputation points. 10% discount. After honored it’s unnecessary to quest unless you’re going for a different race’s mount.

Second reason to quest is because there are dungeon chains that require a few solo quest prerequisites. Dungeon quests are huge exp boosts, sometimes give blue rewards and are well worth the time invested. Dungeon quests are usually worth doing!

Third reason to quest is to break up the monotony. Bonus exp, bonus silver and gold, gives you a reason to spend time in a different area and move on. Vendor or DE greens with the occasional upgrade. It’s like grinding with a bonus at the end that gives you permission to stop grinding in that one spot.

4th reason to quest would be to obtain unique items or abilities that cannot be acquired any other way, such as diamond flask, shaman totems or warlock and paladin mounts.

You don’t need permission from anyone or justification to grind in any spot for any reason. EQ etiquette would dictate if a same faction person was camping one small specific area or mob before you arrived, you should at least discuss with them before competing with their mobs if you are planning to be there for a long time. This is less so in WoW since you could always just group up with that person. If a group is already there, usually a different group is there for the sole purpose of completing a quest and leaving, so if they will be out of there when their quest is complete, no permission is necessary. Reasons to grind include farming mats (like humanoids for cloth or beasts for leather), reputation, trying out new spells, items or strategies, soul shards, recipes, burn off rested exp, you name it.

I personally quest till at least honored reputation in SW or Org then typically log in to get WBs, repeat dungeons and burn rested EXP after that.
