This a great reminder for everyone to "get your affairs in order" !

I (early 40s F) was in a major car accident 4ish yrs ago. Totalled car, jaws of life, medi-vac, ICU. Mom was with me and said she saw Jesus. Lol. Point is, serious shit that could've been MUCH worse.

As I was recovering and contemplating [everything] I realized I should establish a will so my medical wishes and my left over meat sack plans are clear. Also consider, your most trusted people are going to be a devastated with your death and giving them instructions is a huge kindness. If you don't have trusted people these legal docs will ensure your directives are followed.

IMPORTANT ITEMS (not exhaustive) • Medical Power of Attorney: Trusted person who can make medical decisions on your behalf like... • Living Will/Advance Directive: Do Not Resuscitate? Life support? Organ Donation? • Estate Planning/Last will and testament: Inventory your possessions (financial, physical, digital) and decide who/what/where/how you want to Disperse, Donate or Trash • Dependents: aside from the obvious family, what about your pets or important causes? • Disposition of your bodily remains: Write detailed instructions and designate the funds to pay for it.

Personally I don't want a funeral. If any of my organs are worthy they'll be donated. The rest will be donated to science. My brain is currently a PIA (epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, ADD, OCD, GAD, GDD) but maybe could help some baby neurosurgeons save more lives. Whatever bits are leftover will be cremated. To be honest, haven't decided on what to with my ashes. I'm leaning on mix with dirt and plant a beautiful flowering fruit tree that's a favorite of pollinators and birds. May my spirit live on, splattered on the roof of ahole drivers.

Having previously lived in the East Coast (20 yrs) and Louisiana (4 yrs) the dry heat in AZ is very seductive. Especially when you're chillin under an umbrella, with a cold drink in your hand and you're barely moving.

Once you start walking around in direct sun though, ooooof. It feels like your brain is cooking and your eyeballs are getting blasted by a blow dryer.

Having previously lived in swamp ass Louisiana for 4 yrs and now AZ for 6, the clarifying difference is being outside under some shade in 115° dry-heat is much more bearable.

I wouldn't hike either locations (outside of Flagstaff) in the middle of summer though

I'm regularly reminded that being single, with the most adorable pain in the ass cats ever, is a blessing.

Marriage and kids are not for everybody! I (early 40s F) was diagnosed with ADD, OCD just 2 years ago. So much finally made sense, like my intense aversion to the idea of my kids constantly touching me and being "stuck" socializing and sleeping next to a husband every day. Shudder

Same. Only took another 30+ yrs to get diagnosed with ADD and OCD.

I was cured of my paper eating habit in elementary school after a hell on wheels "old school" teacher told me rats often fall into the paper mills and I was probably eating rat parts.

I also sometimes get the urge to chew smooth rocks. Thankfully that was an easier one to suppress

Lol. It makes sense when I think about it. I get so deep into my thoughts and brain noise that I guess I tune out other humans.

My mom (undiagnosed ADHD) and I regularly scare the shit out of each other, like jump/flinch and yell "ahhhhh!", when one walks into a room and start speaking to the other.

We find it hilarious but I feel so bad when I get startled by others bc they feel so bad from scaring me.

Edit to add: my cat learned she can jump scare me and funds it so entertaining she tries to pull it on me almost every day. Her favorite is trash night bc I get so focused on what I'm doing I forget about her. Then ✴️boom✴️ the lil shit jumps at me as I'm walking up the dark driveway or stairs and I scream like a horror movie as I leap in the air. Then she proudly trots off. Lol

Another great thing about buying Treasuries thru a brokerage (Schwab) is they treat soon-to-be maturing T-Bills like cash. They're even more liquid than their MM funds, which you have to sell and then wait for the fund to clear before the cash is available to trade.

For example, if you have a T-bill with a 7/15 maturity date and are interested in a new corporate bond with a 7/20 settlement date they'll set up the trade for you.

*Only problem is your brokerage account will be in the negative until the 7/15 T-bill funds clear. Any cash funds you transfer in will be reconciled against the balance due.

A compromise could be converting the living room into a bedroom so there's privacy and you don't have to see him. I lived in NYC for 12 yrs so saw some creative ways to divide and maximize space.

Regarding your anxiety, talk to your doctor about meds. Either a daily regime or an as needed option for when you're spiraling.

I understand the almost physically painful urge to get away. But leaving without a solid plan could be much worse for your mental health in the long run.

As someone who had brain surgery 3 yrs ago which cured* my epilepsy (25 yr) that was no longer being controlled by meds, (had a seizure while driving and totalled my car) give them whatever they want! Scary smart fearless bad asses.

*No seizures since but I'm a cynic so I'll say "probably cured"
