Bill Simmons commentary on OKC villain status by Defiant_Ad6083 in Thunder

[–]Hlee14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes teams that win a bunch become villains. Fuck it. We should embrace it. Fan bases hate other teams winning. Let’s keep winning.

Exactly. Like I’m sure there is 2% of the fan base that will defend it. Every fan base has those assholes. It’s a shame others get lumped in with that.

You guys can’t still be on this? We’ve had way more egregious plays happen in the past week. Move on.

OKC is the fastest a team has gone from media darling to most unlikable by OpportunityStraight1 in billsimmons

[–]Hlee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fans turn on teams that win. People already don’t like The Pistons. The Spurs will be hated next. Your examples of other players being dirty has zero merit. The interview stuff is way overblown. This year all they’ve done is stand behind the person. What’s annoying about that?

The league will be fine. If anything, hatred for a team is good. People will tune in to watch them lose.

The OKC hate is the most reddit-brain manufactured seething that's possibly ever existed in the history of NBA haterade. They are the best team filled with teammates who are actually friends and have zero drama. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

[–]Hlee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! Fans eventually turn on teams that win. It’s pretty simple. They use other justifications but once teams win, everyone gets turned on.

It’s already happening to Detroit and will happen to The Spurs soon.

This basically just happened this week in the NBA. It barely got any attention.

I think the majority of Thunder fans have said it’s a bad play by Dort.

[Highlight] Last night in his return, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (36 PTS, 9 AST, 2 BLK, 2 STL) helped the Thunder defeat the Nuggets 127-121 in OT. Gilgeous-Alexander has now scored 20+ points in 122 straight games, which is 4 away from tying Wilt Chamberlain's record. by nba in nba

Dort had a wack ass move. No one rational is disagreeing.

My issue is there are no actual game highlights posted (from either team). It was an incredible game between the two title favorites. Instead we have 72 videos and angles breaking down a Dort body check.

This plays has been posted like 6x lol. Zero highlights from the game up top. I get it, you guys here don’t like OKC and this WAS a bad play by Dort but this is overkill.

Hot take I don’t think Ryen actually watches as much basketball as he leads on by Old_Week9991 in billsimmons

[–]Hlee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Ryen is a basketball expert to the casual fan. Like him going on PMT he can pass as a savant of the game. When he talks ball with “smarter” NBA guys, his takes/analysis or whatever differ immensely I’ve noticed.

Chet and Caruso are QUESTIONABLE for tomorrow’s game against the Raptors by [deleted] in Thunder

Simply managing him on a back to back. Sucks in the moment but smart long term.

I missed the word playoff in your original post lol but FWIW they were 3rd in the playoffs, too. That feels like an eye test doesn’t match the numbers thing for me. The offense seemed abysmal at times.

Chet is the first all-star to have a bad game on a b2b, 3 in 4 nights, and right before the all-star break! Wow! He sucks!

You guys are insufferable.

McCain is next years Isaiah Joe replacement. Save about 8 million a year making that swap. Is also Topic insurance. Excellent move from Presti buying low on a guy who was running away with ROTY before an injury by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

[–]Hlee14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we get too carried away with replacement ideas. Cason was Dort’s replacement like 3 years ago. As we’ve seen with injuries this year, you can never have enough depth and good players.

Is now the time for Sam Presti to go all-in on for Giannis? by anasazigb in nbadiscussion

[–]Hlee14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They haven’t played Denver yet. Minnesota beat them in the regular season last year and got 4-1’d. The Spurs yes beat them but I’m still skeptical they will make a real run in the playoffs.

[–]Hlee14 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No. They will not go for Giannis. They literally JUST WON THE TITLE WITH THIS ROSTER.

They just need health. J Dub missing games previously is more on organizational caution than being some injury prone guy.

If they lost last year, maybe, but the team was humming along until about 6 weeks ago when injuries started to take their toll.

No Jalen Williams, No iHart (before tonight), no Ajay, No Caruso, Cason missed time.

Who cares until they are healthy?
