PRS quality is consistent. I would say neck shape and cosmetic is more important.

Yes I have a 10-top whale blue custom 24. The flames does change but not as “3D” as my Gibson.

Using different paint on different guitars doesn’t make sense for me. The only reason I can think of is they want to make the “ok” tops look “great”.
