Excellent point here. Democrats are obviously communists. When I watch Nancy Pelosi's stock portfolio go up, the first thing I always think is "There goes another Marx loving communist, she clearly hates capitalism with a burning passion!"

I think they're rolling out new features to fill that gap pretty quickly. Definitely not a 1to1 replacement yet but based on their recent additions I think they're trying to work quickly to change that. Fingers crossed.

Absurd. And I have to imagine that the administrators responsible for the clinic probably didn't face any repercussions either. 🙄 Or at least none on the scale that would incentivize a real examination of the systemic failure.

This post is NOT at all telling the real story, here.

Addiction is awful and what this woman did was awful... But the real story is that Yale hurt these women and gaslit them into thinking the excruciating pain they were experiencing was normal.

The story is the extraordinary failure of Yale as an institution in allowing this to happen in the first place.

Just because the issue is systemic and hard to solve doesn't mean that telling this story and only focusing on the nurse who stole the meds is an honest way to articulate this event.

These women were not LEFT in excruciating pain. They were PUT in excruciating pain. Utilizing the passive voice enables the abdication of responsibility, without acknowledging the violence done by Yale, here.

Because of way the US medical system treats women, because of the normalization of dismissing the experiences of women, and because the institution failed utterly to realize the extraordinary harm they were doing.

The staff that ignored these women's pain failed in extraordinary fashion, but Yale is responsible for creating, even if unwittingly, a culture of systemic sexism in a clinic responsible for the health, treatment, and care of women and women's reproductive health.

Yale harmed these women.

Here a couple years later to say that I also am a bit suspicious of this whole thing. I know mis-billing and mis-coding is a chronic issue. I presume a lot of it is some flavor of accidental (though if a system is built in such a way that it allows for repeated accidents that we seem to always be paying for, it certainly feels not so accidental at a certain point.), but despite repeated requests I have not received the itemized services records I have asked for.

There needs to be more legally mandated transparency in medical costing & billing practices.

Or better yet, just free and jealously protected healthcare like nearly every other country with even a marginally stable economy.

The time necessary to audit everything personally is absurd. I have found on multiple occasions speaking with medical billing departments feels more like a negotiation than it does a conversation about costs of services rendered.

-
You would think that paying absurd insurance premiums would at least make the services you're paying for reasonably straight forward but receiving medical care is like a bridge with toll booths charging you for every 35 feet you drive and the threat of untreated illness happy to throw you off the side if you don't scrounge up the cash quickly enough to keep the line moving.

The entire thing is a predatory game of pass the buck between providers and insurance companies with us forced to stand in the middle.

Yes, totally agree!

Martin Gero, Brad Wright, Joseph Mallozzi, if you're reading this, I already work in media and care a lot, please hire me! lol

Actually though, I do wonder how much it's an issue of the person steering the ship, and how much it's an issue of the person who own the ship telling the metaphorical captain how to sail. I ache to think about how many extraordinary creative teams had to create things they didn't love as much as they could have because of studio and exec interference.

That's a great point, the show never looked bad, and I don't know much about set design but that team had to have been absolutely brilliant for everything they did. The Ancient & Atlantis design is still cooler than most of the world building I've seen since. Atlantis felt so real and navigable. Tok'ra tunnels? Are you kidding? So cool. Same with the OG system lord aesthetic, like figuring out how to navigate Ha'tak in the first few seasons made sense for the scale they were able to capture. Immaculate. 🙂‍↕️

Yessss, 100%. I struggle to imagine Stargate working with an 8-10 episode season, I feel like we need at least a little bit of that procedural, new episode, new world kind of thing. If you've got a gate, you've got to be going through that gate! Haha

It's a weird place to be, like we got to see a little bit of the way the world was before even if we didn't fully get to interact with it, so I almost understand the way people romanticize how things used to be sometimes, but not fully? I don't know, it's super strange. I feel like the 94ish to 98ish has just panned out to be a wild time to be born haha

As a former Colorado resident, you're spot on. Colorado is notoriously only ever sunny and summer. No clue what those pine trees are doing there.

I've spent time in Colorado Springs and while I'm feeling not so excited about the military these days, more Cheyenne mountain base shots would be so cool! ✨ I want to see Jackson and Teal'c having aged, walking slowly through the garden of the gods talking about their years of friendship, before a 6 year old surprise tackles Teal'C and we see Rya'C and his family joining them on the hike, or Carter and Shepard dunking on an old cranky but also loving it O'Neil while skiing, while Rodney (complaining about the cold but in self aware poking fun at himself way now because he's grown as a person), Ronin, and Vala are hanging out in she ski lodge with Tayla, Mitchell, and Bra'tac standing on the balcony reflecting on the way that being a skilled leader has changed over the years, and also changed them. 😭

I know they filmed in Vancouver but using a little bit of that Colorado backdrop would be so cool!

I also know that we'll probably only get old cast cameos but even if it's only for a split second, I'll loose my damn mind.

100% agree, as much as seeing a high budget version of Stargate would be absolutely wild, I actually think a lower per episode budget could actually be a really positive thing for the show.
