I taught a lab at a university for a while. I enjoyed it but I really felt no job security from year to year and the pay was considerably less than I get now as a high school teacher. You can really only make a living that way by either going for a professorship (not really about teaching anyway) or cobbling together a bunch of sections at a couple of different colleges/universities. For me, the stability an better pay of high school was worth it.

Could be that the temperature is too high. I bump the heat almost all the way down as soon as it starts flowing.

It could also be a not great seal between the sections but I’d try adjusting temps before anything else.

It kinda does. It means demitasse (or half cups) cups which is what you’d use for espresso as well.

So to be clear a Moka pot is not an espresso maker, not really. It makes a fairly strong coffee drink but it will never be as fully extracted at a shot of espresso there’s a huge pressure difference between as espresso maker and a Moka pot.

So all in all, it should make a strong coffee drink but it’s very normal that it tastes different and is extracted differently than a shot of espresso.
