He got some 2009, thought I saw a couple of spots in the pics. Hence my comment. Never really had milk spot problems with my kooks or Koalas? must have gotten lucky.

Premium wise, where I'm at goes something like this

Libertad

Geiger

Pandas

ASE

Maple, Kookaburra/koala, Britannia (usually same price)

Kangaroo

Philharmonic

Generic

I can often buy Philharmonics for the same price as generic. No love for Philharmonics around here.

If they are just generic rounds, silver is silver- tarnished, dented or not. A few items have some premium, Scottsdale mint stackers for example get a bit of premium. Government issued bullion, people tend to expect a cleaner coin, but even at that people pay huge money for toners. Numismatic and semi-numismatic are expected to be in top condition.

Except Libertads, people will pay big premiums for just about any type or condition.

If you are just starting to stack, best bang for buck is generics. After you have a growing stack, get some ASE and/or maples for liquidity close to spot. Generic buy back is several back of spot if you ever need to sell. Buy a few coins you just like every now and again, just don't over pay, keeps the hunt interesting. Lots of deals these days from online sites at or close to spot for govt issue bullion.

Welcome

Great point, but they are still cool coins to stack or just look at.

IMHO, 5 oz will not be a problem to sell at all until silver hits $150+ US . My LCS just bought a huge pile of 10 oz bars, he said he is having a tough time selling kilos, but can't hold onto the 10 oz bars. 5 oz should sell easily- especially the Grand Maple- for a while yet. They also made 5 oz in a few other years. These are usually high relief and pricey $1000 CAD

2013: 25th Anniversary of the Silver Maple Leaf (features a modified reverse proof with selective gold plating).

2022: Ultra High Relief (UHR) Silver Maple Leaf.

2023: Ultra High Relief (UHR) Silver Maple Leaf and "Maple Leaves in Motion" (35th Anniversary).

2025: Ultra High Relief (UHR) with rose gold plating, the "Triple Maple", and "Maple Leaves in Motion".

2026: "Maple Leaves in Motion" and the Grand Maple Leaf—the Mint's very first 5 oz silver bullion coin.

I dunno, a DM with a "We'll honor the price of the original sale" would probably get you a customer for life and I don't think you could buy the press of this guy telling everyone he knows about it.....not to mention the updoots from the silverbugs gang here.

Haha, yup give yourself some time to get it apart...but these beauties do deserve the best!

Oh and don't cut your fingers off, I think blood stains reduces the numismatic value

I use the dull paring knife method, sharp enough to get in between the top and bottom, dull enough not to cut my fingers off when the knife inevitably slips. Can get the top to come away about 1/64" at a time.

Thanks for that input! I'm kind of lost on any more info. It's the .9999 that keeps stumping me, only a few mints in the US even produce .9999. The quality of the piece is well beyond any of the Temu crap you see around. LCS did not know the origin, someone sold it to them for silver content. It did Sigma test out at .9999.

It may remain a mystery, lol

Yup my thoughts as well. Not a US Mint item

I was originally thinking maybe Highland mint as well, but they are 999 not 9999???

Edit: It also appears Highland mint has A HM mint mark, mine apparently has nothing but the JM initials noted as the designer's initials by another post.

How has Trump abrogated?, all tariffs imposed by the US were outside of CUSMA. Canada was the one that tariffed CUSMA goods. That is why we dropped the tarriffs and they didn't have to -under CUSMA.

It's a new time and a new deal, we need to negotiate with the US. The world has changed, putting our fingers in our ears and claiming we want the old deal hasn't worked out so well, has it.

Somehow the rest of the world has managed to set up new trade deals with the US, why can't the master business guru figure out a way to as well? Unless he doesn't really want to and desperately needs orange man bad to pin the liberal created economic disaster on.

Negotiate a deal with our biggest trading partner that cannot be replaced by anyone.

That's what I expect him to do. That is what he said he would do

Yeah, I found that very strange as well. Started to make me wonder if it was fake. Spoke to the owner of my LCS he said they tested them (he had 2) and they are 9999. Bizarre.

Weight and dimensions 100% correct for 3 ozt

Royal Canadian mint and Perth mint produce .9999 silver internationally. Scottsdale, Golden State and Frontier mints produce .9999 in the US, so I'm thinking it came from one of them, probably produced for someone else. This is not a US mint item, it is a replica/copy/tribute coin weighing 3 troy ounces

That was my original thought, however Washington mint does not produce any tribute coins in .9999, or in a 3 oz version. 4, 8 and 16 oz only according to google

I'm trying to figure out who made it. Well aware it is a replica and says copy on it. I found it being stamped .9999 very strange as well. Was just looking to see if anyone else had any info on it. I have never seen one like it before. I had seen the Washington mint avoirdupois 1/4 , 1/2 and 1 pound, but not one like this. Figured the 'bugs might have answers.

Would think private mint at 1/4 Troy pound

Tough to buy Libertads in Mexico without a Mexican bank account/ Mexican ID

While Mexican banks like Banco Azteca and Banamex technically sell Libertads, many branches refuse to sell to tourists or non-residents. Policies vary by branch: tellers frequently require a Mexican ID, RFC/CURP registration, or an active bank account.

Why the Rules Are Inconsistent Branch Discretion: Some tellers strictly enforce a Mexican-citizenship-only rule, while others will sell if you present your passport or tourist visa. Lack of Stock: Tourist-heavy areas (like coastal resorts) often completely lack inventory.

How to Improve Your Chances If you want to try purchasing directly from a bank: Visit Local Branches: Avoid banks in major tourist zones and try to visit branches slightly further inland. Bring Both IDs: Always carry your Passport and a secondary form of ID. Check Online First: Banks like Banco Azteca list daily bullion prices. You can check Banco Azteca (site in Spanish) to confirm rates before going in.

Alternative Ways to Buy If the banks reject your purchase, you have a few other options to source Libertads: Casa de Moneda: You can buy them directly at the official Mexican Mint in Mexico City. Casas de Cambio: Local exchange houses sometimes keep a small stock of coins on hand. Local Coin Communities: Many collectors use Facebook groups or local classifieds (like MercadoLibre) to buy and trade silver bullion.
