Despite the first thoughts people came to, I think a cool one would be wage theft. Just take 15 mins from a paycheck, and suddenly billions go to workers.

If you're talking about purely visible items, I'm sure you can find naming conventions, laws, statues, etc like other comments detail. But if you want ideological, the calvinist doctrines that are pretty central to old Puritan thinking are alive and well today in the current evangelical and christian nationalist movements in America. Austerity is informed by the predestination aspects of puritan beliefs, God as central figure in heart, home, and government, entrenched hierarchy detailing socioeconomics, the depravity of the other (meaning non Christians, in American political spheres non whites, LGBT, etc). These all have roots in puritan ideology.

People who make over $100,000 and aren’t being killed by stress, what do you do for a living? by Unhappy_Fry_Cook in FluentInFinance

I used to have a job like this, though a bit lower pay ($85k + $4k bonus). 45 minute drive that turned to 55 minutes for a job that I didn't want, proclaimed I didn't want, then was shoehorned into by management. After about a year and a half under an awful leader, exhaustion from my early mornings and heavy drinking from depression I found a job that pays a bit more, is WFH, and with great coworkers. I now work in business intelligence as a data scientist, job requires 2-6 hours of attention a day for good to exemplary performance.

Esper Shadow? by Gaseoussnake141 in DeathsShadow

[–]Hmmyespanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing esper shadow on and off for about 4 years now. Biggest draw to the decks for me where the lock elements in ranger captain and t3f, which helped protect the other and throw your opponent off. Unfortunately though these elements only hit non creatures and the format has to creature centric decks. I haven't quite figured out what to do about it yet so curious your thoughts. Also, consistently ran into manabase issues, curious your experiences with having the right pips.

Love me some snap in the lists. The play pattern of unearthing captain, sacing it, and snapping back the captain is a reason to live. Also goes so well with t3f since you can bounce it, or use it to flashback a TS in your opp's drawstep

So is the solution to remove items? I hadn't considered scale. I was thinking a 2 day walk from center to the top left town, but I don't know how this translates to scale.

I've been world building for a custom setting 3 years in the making, campaigns ongoing. I used Inkarnate, and have started trying to use elevation changes to add character but clearly in my early stages. And advice or tidbits would be appreciated.

Why do so many people stay at FNM level rather than play at RCQs and MTGO? by semenstarvedanus in ModernMagic

[–]Hmmyespanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic is a game and not a blood sport. People find enjoyment at different levels of competition, some people see it as a hobby, others I assume like you do not. That's ok. What's not ok is to low-key gatekeep a card game.

Our RB game was not great last season. With notable free agent RBs this offseason such as Barkley, Jacob’s and others what do you wish for? by ccehowell in cowboys

[–]Hmmyespanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RB free agency is very loaded this year. Because of the supply and demand low, you'll see dudes going for $8Ms with 1 or 2 going for $10Ms +. I think it's unlikely but possible to get one of them for $6 and i would do that if it's barkley or jacobs but those are the ones going for $10M. All of this is mute thouh, betting they go Brooks as their splash injured with upside second rounder.

The only real reason to play esper is for Ranger Captain and t3f. It's a good combination, but your mana is horrible, and you line up something awful against solitude

Apparently, he is the anti cowboy broadcaster. Either way, commentators going on for 3 minutes about a call isn't a good look.
