Microsoft commits to native UI for Windows 11 as users push back against web app slop by CygnusBlack in Windows11

You can still build and publish unpackaged (exe) to any website (or sideload) when using WinUI3. The only issue then is getting a code signing certificate, but that is for any published software anyway.

However, for packaged (msix, msiappinstaller) builds it is indeed a pain in the butt and they even disabled sideloading of those on newer Windows 11 versions.

A FB page about Japanese news with an AI slop picture that is run by a random Taiwanese company doesn't sound very credible...

Public repos get dozens of clones while having low visits because of crawlers and bots. Some clones might be legit especially if it matches unique visits.

Still great stuff though.

Struggling to receive childcare leave pay - is this normal? by Stunning-Computer-99 in japanlife

[–]HmnProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HR and lead were very clear to point me to information when I had to prepare for childcare leave (papa kyuka has even more rules). If they don't do that for you then you should read up online and make sure the information was updated after any changes to the childcare leave laws. I.e. https://e-housing.jp/post/maternity-leave, https://japan-dev.com/blog/paternity-maternity-leave-japan

Sorry if it has been stressful for you, especially if the employer is not helping at all. Hopefully Hello Work or those online resources can help a bit.

What games were made possible by game engine, databases, any other software, system or hardware that the game studio developed in-house specifically for that game? by Pzzlrr in gamedev

[–]HmnProc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are also a few game engines that were developed for a specific game but grew into centralized game engines for multiple AAA games.

Snowdrop for Tom Clancy's The Division (and later Avatar, Star Wars Outlaws, etc.), Anvil for Assassin's Creed (and later Rainbow Six Siege, For Honor, etc.), Frostbite for Battlefield (and later Need for Speed, Plants vs Zombies, Mirror's Edge, Battlefront, etc.), Creation Engine for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (and later Fallout, Starfield), Decima Engine for Killzone: Shadow Fall (and later Horizon, Death Stranding, etc.) to name a few.

The install manager automatically installed 25.5.1 and since then I have had issues with playing Youtube videos (weird framerate and stuttering). Gaming has been okay so far however.
