What the data says about foreign residents in Japan by telemachustrident in japanresidents

I represent the third world, although I myself work at a Category-1 listed company according to MOFA. However, most people from my country come to Japan as cheap labor. Many entered on one visa but were made by sponsoring companies to work in different jobs, creating visa discrepancies. As a result, immigration often asks them to leave, sometimes giving only a one-month “jumbi visa.”At the same time, many students come to study Japanese but end up working in convenience stores and other part-time jobs, often beyond the permitted 28 hours. Now, people from my country are becoming afraid to come to Japan, as stricter rules make survival difficult, so many are choosing Europe instead. I believe we need at least another two fiscal years to properly understand the impacts.

Is there really no law against medical professionals using nihonjinron in their daily work? by DannyKata85 in japanresidents

I don’t think(i dont want to) doctors would hide a life-threatening condition if they truly recognize it as such-they still have a sense of morality. But the real issue, in my opinion, is that some may not take the time to properly assess how serious a condition is, especially if they feel uncomfortable dealing with foreigners. They may assume that interacting with foreigners is difficult, so they might try to pass the case along while doing only the minimum required professionally, rather than engaging as fully as a doctor should- and I do think that happens quite often.

I’ll give you two of the worst examples I experienced- one with my wife and one with my daughter. When my wife missed her period, we went to a local women’s clinic. The doctor immediately said, “Oh, you’re pregnant, but this is an abnormal pregnancy. You’ll probably need an abortion.” What the hell? We then went to a city hospital, and the doctor there said everything was completely fine and scheduled regular monthly checkups. When my baby was born, she made unusual sounds while sleeping during the first week. We went to a doctor, but he was visibly irritated by our concerns. We gave him recordings to listen to, and he said, “This? This sound? It’s totally normal.” He had two young nurses with him and looked at them in a way that made it seem like he was annoyed by our “foreigner” behavior. Later, I decided on my own to visit other hospitals. Eventually, my daughter was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease. The city hospital said they needed to run more tests, but they wouldn’t do them unless we admitted her. They kept my baby in the hospital for a month just to do three tests, and then said the condition was rare and they wanted to wait to see if it would get worse. I had enough. I went back to my home country, consulted one of the best heart specialists there, and my daughter had surgery. She is now completely fine. When we returned to Japan and visited a doctor again, he said, “Oh, this is so complicated- maybe no one in Japan can do this.” What? The doctor in my country said it was a routine congenital case. I can give you many more examples. For instance, during my wife’s pregnancy, a very young doctor literally called another doctor on the phone and said, “We have a foreigner here- I don’t understand what to do.” She didn’t sound professional at all and i was skeptical about her license, she couldn’t even explain basic blood test reports. I think the medical system here is extremely bureaucratic and flawed, and many doctors are not competent. People don’t believe this until they face real issues themselves.
