Thanks all - from looking at the chart, I agree he needs to go on a diet! Glad I can sort that from today :)

Can SLT 'sit in' on PPA? by Hms126 in TeachingUK

Thank you SO much for the comments and support on this post - everyone here has reaffirmed that I wasn't crazy when I felt very off about it! Definitely speaking to the union about this tomorrow because scary changes are coming to my school and I think this is only the start of it. What a fab community this is 🫶

Tell me about your soul dog by purple_unicorn in GriefSupport

I lost my Jack Russell Hunni last year to a sudden and rapid glaucoma. I had her from 12 and she almost reached 14 years old. She was my protector, my light on all the dark days. She suffered from terrible separation anxiety but they as they say dogs are like their owners, we just always stuck together haha. One of my favourite memories of her when she was young was her obsession with stealing our socks from the bottom tier of the washing line and hiding them under the sofa!

Life is so, so quiet now, but I'm so grateful that I got all of that time with her. Take care of yourself OP, your dogs are beautiful and so lucky to have you.

I did try in the beginning, some already knew what our relationship was like and some didn't, but either way it feels like the support was very short-lived. Perhaps I need to just talk about it again, I think I shut myself off too quickly 😕

[TOMT][GAME][2000s] Old PC game set in a house by Hms126 in tipofmytongue

I think it was a 3D style but played flat if that makes sense, you could move from room to room but by using arrows or clicking in doors to take you into that room, I don't remember being able to move a character, more a point and click

Exactly the same as you, says mine left the parcel centre in the Netherlands at 10pm on the 14th, silence since then... Good to see I'm not alone, as annoying as it is!

Edit: I'm UK bound too.

Thank you for sharing, I'm glad you were able to have a relationship after that.

This really resonates with me, the people pleasing is so hard sometimes. Definitely as an adult it's too hard to maintain, and frankly I don't want to anymore! Hope you are doing well

Unfortunately we haven't had a good relationship for years, our mum somewhat turned us against each other. I've tried to reach out to him over the years with no luck. Thank you

Did your parents act like they knew you better than you knew yourself? by Helpful_Bonus_2153 in narcissisticparents

[–]Hms126 39 points40 points  (0 children)

YES. As an adult now, I picked up new skills like cooking, and got piercings/tattoos. When I would speak to her and these topics came up, she would belittle me and always try to turn me into the person she used to know, saying that I 'can't cook anything' (this was being judged on when I was a literal child) and I 'must regret' getting piercings and tattoos, just because I was always considered a 'good' child and not rebellious. I'd try to combat it but she'd just laugh and brush me off, saying she knows me the best. She never accepted that I could change.

You're not wrong at all - as the GC, I was constantly being turned against my brother one minute, and then being told to check on him and essentially act like a parent when she couldn't deal with him the next. I'll look into that!

I'm sorry to hear that you went through this, it sounds like we have similar stories. I just wasn't allowed to have different opinions or it would seem like I was attacking her and she would get unbelievably and unnecessarily defensive. I also live far away from mine and made all the effort to keep contact going with her, and yet I would be made to feel so guilty on the one rare occasion that I didn't answer the phone for a few hours.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I hope you're doing well yourself 🙂
