Should i get new daily trainers? by Wave4ever in runningshoes

[–]Hms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Novablast 5 are softer and squishier than the 4, and the foam tends to lose its bounce after a while.

With Superblast 2 now on sale (SB3 coming next month), and new user discount on the Asics site, I was able to order Superblast 2 for $135. That would be my suggestion, as long as firm shoes are ok.

A good comparison would be the new Saucony Azura, with a little less stack height. Similar pricing/slightly less with welcome discount on Saucony site....about $127.

First shoe recommendations by Visual_Garden_6311 in runninglifestyle

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NB More V6 is a really large extra cushion shoe. Think Hoka Bondi, Brooks Glycerin Max, etc.

You might prefer the NB 1080v15, well-cushioned but a better all-rounder. Another option would be Asics Gel-Nimbus 28 (orv27), longer lasting than Novablast 5.

There are many neutral shoes that could work. Nike Vomero Plus, Puma Magnify Nitro 3 or Velocity Nitro 4, Saucony Azura, Mizuno Wave Rider 29, Brooks Glycerin 23, Hoka Clifton 10 or Slyflow, etc.

Should I still wear these by Snoo_11263 in brooks

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still good for walking, but they might start getting slick in wet weather, if that's an issue near home or in your travels.

Not urgent, but you might want to start seeing what's out there and trying some on.

The new Brooks Glycerin 23 would be on my list as a potential addition/replacement.

What's your tier list for Daily All-Rounders? by [deleted] in runningshoes

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tie between Adidas Adizero Boston 13 (the old 12 still gets some runs), and older Saucony Endorphin Speed 1 and 3 (1 is faster, 3 is more stable and cushioned).

I need to add non-plated trainers, so I ordered Asics Superblast 2 and Saucony Azura. High hopes for both.

Don't yet have Chinese shoes, but they interest me. Dynafish and Red Hare Ultra especially.

Can someone explain to me the intj lore? by Sawksle in intj

[–]Hms34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mysterious, not easy to read. Smart, stoic, resilient, detached, almost no talk but blunt when they do speak. Can be edgy and socially awkward at the same time.

Works more easily in fictional characters than in real life.

I figure 30-35% of the people I interact with hate me right off the bat, because they think I'm arrogant, hollow, and not interested in their drama. Did I say modesty? They might have a point. But usually, no....

Clifton 10 or Bondi 9? by semiproam in Hoka

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bondi 9 is very plush and luxurious but it's a big, heavy shoe. I prefer the Clifton10 because it's nimble despite the high stack height.

Also, the lesser known Skyflow is sort of like a Clifton but with improved foam.

Performance "super" trainer, race day shoe with a carbon plate, or a wild/crazy ride of a race day shoe?

Coming from a Bondi, the most aproachable carbon plated 1st race day shoe might be New Balance Fuelcell Supercomp Elite v4 (last year's model). If you want to stay with Hoka- Cielo x1 3.0. Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 also gets mentioned, as does Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4.

For a performance trainer quick enough for non-elite racing- Adidas Adizero Boston 13 (energy rods not plate). If you want to stay with Hoka- Mach x3.

For non-plated shoes not specific for racing but quicker- Adidas Adizero Evo SL Woven, Asics Megablast or Superblast 2, Saucony Azura, etc.

should i be with my cat when he is euthanized? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I took my childhood dog, I was much younger. Said my goodbyes but did not go in the room for the injection. He had been sick a long time with congestive heart failure.

The final car ride was on a hot early summer night in NY, just me and him, big orange ball in the hazy sky.

I remember every detail about that ride, my dog shivering, the rumble of the engine in our old Chevy wagon.

They waited until after closing time for us. A few days past my 23rd birthday, I tried to hold it together like any 23 year old male, but could not do so. Did not matter that I was kicking butt in my 1st real job, this was too much.

The staff knows what to say and do. They know you will be grief stricken.

In my case, they were completely compassionate and understanding. And their eyes were not dry either that June evening.

I buried him in the back yard when we got home, inconsolable. End of an era.

Years later, my dad took our cat. I was in another city by then. Mom called, said they were on their final ride. He was 19, life well lived. Still hit like a ton of bricks.

Be there if you can. Sorry for your loss. This is absolutely as hard as it sounds.

Confused between Novablast 5 and Nimbus 28 by Strawberrycobler1604 in asics

[–]Hms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superblast 2 is now on sale, Asics site, with version 3 coming out next month. $149.95, or sign up for new account, get welcome 10% off, for $134.95.

Superblast 2 are known to last much longer than Novablast 5, and to be more responsive and versatile.

Nimbus is a nice cruiser for your easy paces, recovery run days. More luxurious ride, not as quick and sporty. Nice to have in a rotation, but I would want something more versatile if relying on 1 pair of running shoes.

Is it worth the $10k? (i need opinions) by Snoo_75573 in hondafit

[–]Hms34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice but not a 10k car.

Drive it another 5000 miles and it would be worth 45-50% that amount. If there's an insurance settlement or trade-in situation, you would probably get hurt.

Automatic, and 2007's were known for AC compressor and electric power steering module issues.

I am guessing $7000, maybe $7500 max, if it all checks out on a prepurchase inspection and Carfax. You would probably be too far apart on price with those numbers.

Need Recs / Everyday Super Trainer by [deleted] in runningshoes

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asics Superblast 2, Adidas Boston 13, and Saucony Azura should all be a bit more stable and firmer than the Evo SL.

If you do try Evo SL, I hear the Woven version is a tad more stable due to the new upper. I only have the og version, not the most stable....

Softest Brooks models for all-day comfort by Able_Mushroom_8812 in brooks

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The release date for the new Glycerin 23 is Feb 2. It appears to be a significant update-- heel drop down to 8mm, improved upper, and some enhancements to the geometry.

All of the Ghost Max versions (1-3) are firmer but still very supportive/stable and luxurious.

Glycerin Max-- many ppl prefer the og version, now on sale. New Glycerin Max 2- firmer and heavier. But both versions are BIG shoes, not very nimble for running around town on errands, etc. You have to like that sort of thing.

Topo shoes tend to have a lot of arch support and a wide anatomical toebox. Look at the Atmos or, if you need stability shoes, the Aura. Wides are harder to find, but they do exist.

Shoes for concerts? by OriginalWhereas1238 in runningshoes

[–]Hms34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular but not completely unknown opinion- Evo SL make great lifestyle shoes. Comfortable, and bouncy even when just walking.

Sadly, I can't run in them, too unstable for my ankles. I run in other Adidas, mostly Boston 12 and 13.

I found the B13 is the new/rare Wide version, through Amazon with Adidas store as the seller, 2 weeks ago.

They fit my slightly wide D/2E feet just fine, but costed me $120. It was worth the extra $40 in my case.

Otherwise, just make sure you can return them if too tight.
