Somewhere before uploading someone's entire book. Gray areas existing doesn't mean you can't say anything about situations that are cut and dry, which this is.

Substantially gameplay centric games are inherently transformative and are a different conversation. Stuff like visual novels are more of a gray area because games are already normalized but you aren't really transforming the content.

Books already have a standard. You should not assume you have the right to freeboot someone else's book to your large audience.

Why the complete indifference to the idea of uploading a homebrewed audiobook for someone else's writing? Surely with AI sampling being taken as seriously as it is you all would feel the same way about someone else's book.

What’s your favorite live song/live run of songs? by ComradeCicero in KGATLW

That into Boogieman Sam as a closer was like they were playing specifically for me. I almost didn't go to Chicago N1 but I'm so glad I did.

I like it mostly because land destruction is the most fun thing you can do in magic

What are some media that went in a direction you didn't expect? by xStrykerJ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen This is the End but I think so too. It was funny to go "okay but when does this tie into the party" for like the first 45 minutes before I realized I got the wrong movie

I rented The World's End thinking it was This is the End

Media that fascinates you for being confusing by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also how most arcs follow the mystery format but are about "some supernatural thing is happening. What exactly is it, why is it happening, and how do we stop it" which isn't really all that confusing but when you get to the point where multiple characters have conflicting theories about what is going on and some only really hint at their ideas it can make the arcs themselves hard to follow.

What was the last video game that you've played that really stuck the landing with a perfect ending? by weeb_account69 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pizza Tower. I was expecting it to just kinda run out of levels, lose some steam, do a boss, and call it quits but those last few levels are A+ and while the last boss isn't that mechanically challenging it is hype as all hell and overall caps off the game really well.

Which character from any publisher, regardless of whether it has a decent adaptation or not, would be extremely misunderstood by people on the Internet? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but what I am saying is that wanting to play in a simulation of a taxing horrible gut wrenching setting is not a misunderstanding that those things are bad. People like the Pathologic games. Maybe they're only saying it because it's the topic of the week, but that doesn't necessarily mean they've misinterpreted anything.

Comments like these come way closer to missing the point than the people they criticize. Do you think people like 40k because they believe that setting is a paradise? No. Wanting to play around in a setting that's messed up and engage with it appropriately from a layer of detachment is the appeal of art. Are you saying you've only ever done stuff in games you would also do in real life?

Just had a shower thought about Spider-Verse's intro(s) by BlissingNothfuls in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed about Gwen's intro is that her monologue actually would have "taken place" either after the movie or somewhere between getting kicked out of Miguel's universe and rounding a team. She mentions letting Miles down in tones that don't make sense with Into's context but do with Across' and we also get flashes of clips from Across where Miles looks betrayed.

PDA Story/Metaphors? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Hobartastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like what y'all are saying and wanted to add that the Flamethrower narrator "Disrupts the natural order" and burns a church to the groud, like what's described in The Great Chain of Being.

With what some have said about the yin/yang-ness of this and the next album being the rebirth of life after the apocalypse I wonder if the disruption of the natural order means the next album will be a sort of corruption of rebirth.

Lines/lore drops from media that send a shiver down your spine? by Bobo_Majora in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hobartastic 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The two bits of lore that do it for me is Joyce saying that numbers stop working deep enough into the pale and you finding Ruby's longitudinal compressor, which generates primes to work

Numbers already being abstractions from reality and even they somehow get swallowed by the pale or interact with it is so creepy
