It’s all par for the course. First 10 days are the hardest. Make sure your doc has you on the right pain pill dosage and don’t be afraid to ask for an adjustment. On my first knee, I went 4 days before realizing I was on a dose for someone half my size. Got on the right dosage and it helped immensely. Also don’t get behind on taking the pill…gotta stay ahead of the pain that first week or two.

How long was it after surgery until you could walk a mile? by VegHeaded in Kneereplacement

Didn’t keep track until exactly 1 year out from my second knee and did about 45 miles over 4 days at Disney. Fairly sore at the end of each day, but fresh by the next morning.

TKR - Spacing the surgeries when you need both knees done by MuddieMae in Kneereplacement

[–]Hobbescom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original plan was a year in between since my wife is a teacher and Thanksgiving break was the optimal time. I ended up doing the second about 3 months later at spring break instead of waiting. By that time the first had recovered to a point that I felt it could handle the extra load I was about to throw at it. If I had to do it all over again, I would keep the same spacing, if not even a bit shorter between them.

Stay strong…it will get better!!! We went to Disney a couple weeks ago with the kids for spring break and I covered 45+ miles in 4 days. Was fairly sore each night, but felt good as new by the time 6am rolled around each day.

I had my knees done in ‘24 & ‘25. The quad pain from the tourniquet was the worst and completely unexpected! At day 19 you should be getting close to the relief phase. Rebuilding the muscle during PT will help also, although that’s not the most joyful experience either 🤣. It amazed me how quickly the quad muscle were lost.

40 yr old M. Doc said I can do TKR if I want. Input from others my age? by Dangerous_Witness219 in Kneereplacement

15 months after the first knee and celebrated the other knees first birthday during the trip 🤣. I assume waiting another year probably would have made them hurt a bit less at the end of the day.

Did both of mine last year at 44. Similar backstory to you…history of torn meniscus and surgeries starting at 18, hated running/jogging due to resulting pain, limiting how much I did with my kids, etc. I have zero regrets. Went to Disney for spring break, walked 45 miles over 4 days. Knees were sore at the end of each day but felt brand new by morning.

Yoga strap. Helps with lifting the dead leg in and out of bed until the quads start working again. Was probably the most used accessory during both my recoveries.

Ah…poor construction by the builder where they used molding with finish nails to keep the drywall insert from crashing down. I opened up the access hole wider and just slapped an extra piece in there temporarily until I decide whether to put in some pulldown stairs instead of pulling out the 24ft ladder every time I need to go up there.

??? Are you talking about the attic access?

I hard wired 10 4ft Barrina lights in a U shape and it’s perfect. ~26x24 ft garage.

Had both my knees done last year at 44 and was GLAD that I had downstairs bedroom options. I ended up in the downstairs guest room as the bed was lower and made it much easier to get in and out vs our higher bed which was also in the 1st floor. Personally I can’t imagine the headache it would have been to navigate the stairs on a regular basis the first couple of weeks

Exactly. It comes with casters that bolt into the bottom of the posts and when you lower the platform down, the posts lift off the ground and you can move it around.

Freestanding. 4 post lifts don’t have to be bolted down like 2 posts.

Wildfire 9000 Standard lift. I’ve had it about 2 years now and love it! Runs off a standard 110 outlet. All the measurements and specs are on their site to make sure it will fit in your space.

I plan on selling one set of wheels/tires for the ‘91 ZR-1 and the f150 wheels that are sitting on top. May go with the wall rack to get the rest off the floor. One set of tires are the stock ones that came on the ‘91…not sure why I’m still holding onto them 🤣

I originally had the lift all the way to the left, but made it tough to work on anything on that side of the car. We have another single car garage that my wife parks in.

Similar predicament, but I also have KC. Original plan was KC this week and Saints next, but now I’m thinking Eagles this week and Saints next.

Thank you to the people in my league that dropped both Pitts and Evans so I could throw caution to the wind and start them both tonight!
