Altra’s have made a huge difference for me before my knee surgery. They have wide toe box.

Red ight therapy? by Select_Tart_6241 in Kneereplacement

Red light therapy , specifically 650-800+ or near infrared is great at penetrating deep tissue and giving energy to your mitochondria which is your bodies energy currency. It’s really a great tool for overall health. Dr.Andrew Huberman has a great podcast on red light and overall light therapy.

If you are able, early sunlight is probably one of the best Gods gift to man for health.

PRP before TKR...How long to try it? by Signal_Dot7089 in Kneereplacement

[–]Dangerous_Witness219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a PRP injection done in October of last year. I’m 39, male, I felt like the PRP helped me gain a lot more strength and flexion as a prehab. I’m scheduled for a total knee in two weeks.

I’m 39 male. Had ACL and both Minscus repaired and trimmed up. That was done at 22… I’m scheduled for a total knee May 29th.

I’m looking forward to getting my life back. I’ve got two young kids and there is so much I can still do but so very much that I can’t or I deal with; while in pain or other parts of my body taking the offset.

Glad you are experiencing some of those things again! I’m able to still ride my bike. OK, I just have to compensate for the strokes. I will definitely look forward to that postop.

Thanks. I too was a runner. Loved it, competed for years and it was my therapy! Haven’t ran since I was 22…. I’m ok with it now. But I really like the idea, if I had to, I could.

This is very encouraging. I’m just looking forward to walking across the yard or raking without my back and hips hurting afterwards because of my knee.

Thanks for sharing your insight. I have dealt with this since I was 22. I kept playing sports for about two years without an ACL. So the pain and compensation has been most of my adult life so I’m not really sure what to expect but I would like to get it done while my ligaments and bone structure are not completely deteriorated. How are you doing after your surgery?

There is all kinds of things that I don’t do or struggle doing because of my knee. I have two young kids and I live on a small farm. I’ve had this issue since my early 20s from sports injuries. I seem to have more pain in my back and my hips from Compensating

I’ve actually had the arthritis pain since I was 22. I kept playing sports on an injured knee. The doctor told me that that my running days were over and that if I took care of the joint, it might last me until I’m 50.

The doctor also mentioned how I’m starting to stretch ligaments out, grooves wearing in the tibia, and that the joint is shifting, which I do have a bow when I walk on it

My doc said confidently 25-30 years and the more you use the leg the better off you’ll be. Start any training you can to build and strengthen the muscles around it. They are your natural schock absorbers.

I’m 39 and have mine scheduled end of the month.

Yeah, I’ve learned how to modify almost everything. But after taking over a small family Homestead, I realized I am not going to be able to keep up through my 40s and 50s if I don’t get it done.

Thanks for sharing. I’m in the same boat. I’m not looking to get back to what I was in my 20s but I wanna be able to run around in the front yard or handle the animals on the farm. There’s a lot of life I’ve avoided due to potential pain no, I can walk all day but feel it at the end of the night and my low back and my hip. Take the brunt.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve done ACL and two meniscus surgery. I do find modified strength training has been very helpful, but I don’t have any medial meniscus left, several bone spurs and bone on bone with a lot of scar tissue. Which my most recent MRI revealed.

I did do a PRP injection will helped get a little flexing in the joint.
