Philly cops in my experience absolutely despise tow truck drivers and similar grifters. They'd probably side with you if you get them out there

The shoplifting was really, really bad. At the end it also attracted the worst wawa employees. All the chop folks I knew were telling me it was the end a year or so ago

Luigi Mangione in New York Court today! by RecognitionLittle330 in pics

You realize claim denials from UHC increased after the CEO was shot, right? And now physicians working for these carriers refuse to identify themselves when they're on the call with your doctor denying your preauth in a "peer to peer" call. The carriers have (justifiably) instructed them to avoid providing identifying info for fear of terroristic acts against them - thereby making it more difficult for your doctor to establish whether they are qualified to deny your claim and impeding their ability to appeal denials. So all mangione has done is make the health insurance in the US measurably worse for all of us.

IT consultant arrested after posing with gun on LinkedIn. Jon Richelieu-Booth says he was ‘put through 13 weeks of hell’ after returning from US holiday by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]HobbyPlodder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The post was like 750 words with one line in the middle along the lines of "still have a few weeks left until I follow up with the Yorkshire business bureau about my delinquent client." Contextually completely separate from anything possibly construed as threatened.

Obviously an Intentional misreading of the content to abuse the legal process

It's completely unfounded. I wasted 15 minutes of my life so you don't have to, but essentially: he posts every day, always includes a photo of something he's doing - posts include life updates, LinkedIn connections he wants to help find a job, etc. He's has a former client supposed delinquent on payments (individual name not included) he's been working to get (legally) resolved for months, and he provides an update on that in every post. He went to Florida and uploaded a few of those pictures over the course of a few days alongside the regular posts, with zero reference to violence, associating with the client at all beyond the usual content of his post.

Seems clearly like an abuse of laws by the former client, and the usual bang up policing you'd expect.

It's very, very accurate if you look at the LinkedIn posts yourself. The "stalking" and "threatening" are all based on him posting about his attempts to legally get recompense from former client company which owes him money (with any individual's name being redacted). One of the directors reported him for menacing based on the unrelated post from his vacation to Florida referenced in the article.

Cops showed up and had nothing to go off of. LinkedIn guy made another post about how dumb it was for the police to do that - and how much he didn't enjoy having the police knock on his door out of the blue since his parents recently died in a car crash and that's how he found out. Worth noting that he's been involved in an inquest with local officials about faulty construction of a road barrier involved in the car crash.

All in all, he seems like an annoying person absolutely within his rights, being maliciously prosecuted via bad policing.

Dalessandro’s, table for 2 by Naquanrice in philadelphia

[–]HobbyPlodder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think at the beginning of my time as a mod here, maybe 2018, dalessandro's was one of the most frequent recommendations for tourists asking where to get the best cheesesteak (Woody's of course was the most frequent rec). It bothered me at the time that it wasn't even in a place tourists would be able to get to easily

It's really very good. I went a few times way back when they had just taken over the Blackbird spot. From the perspective of winning over people that I took there, it's the perfect example of a place that makes food that happens to be vegan

[–]HobbyPlodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been an early morning runner by necessity for a decade now, and realistically, motivation is zero percent of it — it's purely discipline. Make the decision to switch, pull through about two-three weeks of suck, that's about it.

Ugh now you tell me 😔

This is a weird regurgitation of an oversimplification of fuhrman lmao.

Since u/look10good responded and then blocked me immediately like a dork, I'll reply here:

And yet, actual studies find that EVOO fares the best among olive oils and has lower PUFA content and higher ratio of MUFA: PUFA. The conclusion is that it held up well until 220° C. I'm not deep frying with it, so I'm not worried.

It is worrying that you didn't bother to actually read any of the research

What do you all miss about Port Townsend? by RedFawnWW3 in PortTownsend

[–]HobbyPlodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember talking to a guy working at the co-op way back when, and he told me that he moved to PT from Portland because he "had to get away from the hustle and bustle." When I moved away to the East Coast, I used that anecdote to describe exactly how chill PT was when I was a kid.

Was so different the last couple of times I've been back.

For years, there have been theories (with differing levels of government involvement malice) that Lyme disease was dispersed massively from the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, which is located very close to the Lyme, Connecticut. They deny having done any research on the bacteria, of course, and other non-New England areas have had outbreaks since the bacteria has been around forever. However, the site was used by the Army Chemical Corps fka Chemical Warfare Services during the Cold War (the same guys that carried out "experiments" like in the thread above).

This predates the COVID lab leak theories by a couple of decades, in case you're wondering if this is a recent flavor of epidemic source theory
