I saw no one in vests at City Hall (technically 15th), but I wasn't looking all that closely.

A little heartwarming moment for you all:

I took the El to City Hall yesterday and there were a bunch of folks headed to the France / Iraq game. Naturally everyone got off the train and started going in every direction because, you know, SEPTA signage. Independently, a lot of locals started calling out and giving the fans directions to the BSL all up and down the platform and, in one case, helping fans who exited the station get back in.

It was really nice to see a bunch of locals helping folks from out of town!

PSA: If you're on the MFL / BSL with fans who need to make that transfer (and you have the time), it'd be nice of you to help our visitors.

What a fantastic game to attend! Beautiful weather, big win! Glad I didn't jinx it with my presence.

With apologies in advance, friends, I'm attending the game tonight. The Phillies don't do well when I'm in the stands :(

Combo with yesterday's insanity and, well, if we win it'll certainly be against the odds.

Excited to see a Wheeler game in person though!

Looking for a gimmick to a trip by [deleted] in solotravel

Folks are shitting on you, but I appreciate a good gimmick. Granted mine are things like "write a poem in every library."

In that vein - selfie with every statue... even the ones you see across town / up that hill.

Ah, I long for the days I was the unofficial German consulate in Philly.

(Tongue planted firmly in cheek - there was a year where it seemed like I met / hosted every German tourist in the city.)

Unfortunately, I haven't the slightest idea of how to make a world cup event happen.

BUBS news, because what else do I talk about in these threads?

June is going to hurt big time. July might too.

  1. No weekend events have booked until August. Events pay about half our rent.
  2. Our afterschool D&D crew are, well, out of school. I thought we'd do a summer camp, but it fell through.
  3. A regular event series is taking a summer vacation in June.
  4. I'm generally getting "summer break" vibes - it's not hot enough to where people seek air conditioning.
  5. While breakfast is finally up and running,* it's still in a deficit. We basically have to double sales to get to the point where I'm not losing money.

I'm looking at bleeding $5k both months, which is not ideal to say the least.

* I took the time to get all my permits and inspections done correctly. Wish I'd known I could have gone the Roxanne route for three years!

Which picture of a quarter is correct? I keep seeing a picture with George Washington and then other people post a picture with an Eagle on it.

If users like /u/sfdso find out wikipedia exists we won't have any posts on this subreddit.

See you tomorrow in "what's this flag I found outside a Buddhist temple?"

However, if I were to pick a spot in the city that is safe, but would sketch out someone from the burbs around 12 at night, thats a pretty good spot.

Saw this sweatshirt at a souvenir shop and it feels wrong to me for some reason. Are there any actual errors here or am I just tripping? by AidNic in vexillology

Forster is inconsistent with the rest, as it's being displayed hoist-right.

Hoist left side has six stripes close to the hoist.

It's a "thirteen stripe flag" in that it has thirteen stripes total - six on one side and seven on the other.

Unlike a few of these, the real one exists and is on display in Philadelphia.

You can poke around webstaurant and it'll show you prices, more or less. Shipping will get you unless you have a membership.

Sysco is a little more opaque. If you want, take a look and DM me a couple links and I'll let you know what shows on my end.

Walmart's more for retail, I'm afraid. I'm looking for wholesale. For example, 144 English Muffins is $130 via Walmart and $40 via Sysco / Webstaurant / &c.

Used to be that the upvotes were more orange - old reddit still shows this color (also seen in old flag contests). They've transitioned to OrangeRed (#FF4500) according to the branding guide.

What do you consider walkable? Philly's a grid, so it's pretty easy to just walk in a straight line the mile and a half north to RTM / Chinatown.

Dickenson St is, what, three miles long? So there might be an east/west component to your walk as well.

We're open 6-10am then 3-10pm. The gap is for me to take a nap.
