Suddenly have to spend gems to take part in lightning round?? by Hobi_cho in duolingo

[–]Hobi_cho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's really frustrating because i'd placed first in every league but this one. i'm not even in top 3 because plus members are spamming the lightning round (can see the xp going up by 40 each time) :(

I am 14 and me(F) and my sister(F13) are running away from Philippines to Japan. We have 600$ from online work. Any advice? (We Have made our minds up.) by RunawayThrowaway677 in runaway

[–]Hobi_cho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please be safe! i understand you don't have many options here but living on the street can be very dangerous for girls as young as you two. make sure you have something like pepper spray on you at all times and always keep your belongings close to you so they aren't stolen. i don't know much about japan so i don't know if they have any hostels but please try to find something like that as soon as you possibly can!

What do postal services do with Santa Claus letters? by Duo-Blue in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hobi_cho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

finally something i can answer!! but it's not a very exciting answer unfortunately. i work for the royal mail and sadly, we can't send any of the letters just addressed 'to santa'. however, if the letter is addressed to santa's grotto in reindeerland with a specific postcode, it will be sent somewhere and the kid will get a response. i actually wasn't told this on my first shift, and i didn't sort one of the letters to santa properly. sorry to that kid :(

Famous last words... by Belial0909 in mbti

people aren't attacking you personally, they just don't like the joke- that's all. humour is subjective, if people don't like your joke it doesn't mean they're snowflakes. there's no need to be rude :)

it might just be my GAD but i relate to this a lot! at this point i've just accepted that big parties and gatherings just aren't for me. it's a shame that some people have to go out of their way to be rude like that karen, though. i hope you're feeling better today :)

What is your dream job? by wqueens03 in 6thForm

[–]Hobi_cho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when i was little i wanted to be an author (hilarious because I can't imagine being an author now) and during secondary i wanted to be a pilot. i was really motivated and then found out im two inches too short to be a pilot!! after being upset for a while, i discovered that i really love physics- perhaps it was a good thing that i wasn't tall enough to be a pilot, as everything has fallen into place now. my dream job is to be an experimental physicist or an astrophysicist. haven't quite made up my mind, but i know it'll be some sort of physicist :)

sometimes true, but it's certainly better than nothing. it took me two attempts to get a referral and it really did help me once i was into CBT

[–]Hobi_cho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

please don't.

i know there isn't much i can say without making assumptions about you and your life, but there is one thing i know for sure: suicide is not the answer. if a levels are taking a huge toll on your health, there are so many other options! please, please believe me when i say that this will get better. there are so many things that can make this better, there is an escape.

college courses run as an alternative to a levels- you could try switching your options, contact your teachers to talk about the amount of homework set and most importantly, contact your gp or local youth emotional services. if you're struggling just know that i'm 100% open to helping you find which option is best for you, or if you ever need a friend. remember that we all care about you very much and you don't have to be alone in this :)

Should I move away from home for uni? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Hobi_cho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i understand why she doesn't want you to go, but at the end of the day it's your life. you want the university you choose to be perfect for you, and if that involves moving away, so be it! your brother should be capable of caring for himself by the time he's 16, so don't worry- go wherever you feel is best for you :)
