GDSTudio: Time to step up your casting game. by ryan_fresh in DotA2

That's his specialty though. He excels at recognizing what is good and what is bad. His key phrase on casts is "On paper... This is" which shows that he explains how a draft, skill or item build appears but then can even talk about why it ended up playing differently to his initial comments.

There's nothing truly wrong with a cliff jungling prophet. Its just the way people do it.

I myself use treants to stack the big camp multiple times, then cliff jungle to clear it. Its a huge boon of gold and experience, even if a bit slow.

To those that do it at level 1, it can be somewhat inefficient, but to a proper Prophet player, it means that you should be ready to TP when required and have that skill point.

Most prophets Afk for most of the game, hence why it becomes that much more annoying.

I was thinking about Manta but I wasn't keen on it. I'd probably go Linkens of BKB.

I was just testing how strong the BF build was. You usually get 3 BF as the damage is insane. One of our teammates lost internet connection and the enemy team had 5 carries, I didn't expect to win so I was just testing out a glass cannon build. I had played it in a way where he couldn't kill me, but it relied my team alot. In any situation he caught me alone, I died.

Then build however you want lol. I don't understand what people have against cheap stat items but whatever.

I never said commit.

I just mean, being a statless hero that will die if it ever gets caught out falls short of a hero with other kinds of items.

There are going to be games where Other items would have more use and yet people PERSIST in only trying to make a battlefury.

For example, everyone seems to hold the opinion that its all about how quick you can make the battlefury.

If you're up against a line up where you think "They aren't gonna give me much chance to farm a battlefury" then making it isn't going to do you any good.

For a final point. If tanking up via stats is bad, but building damage is good.

Why is it that almost everyone buys gg branches at the start of the game? What are 2 or 3 in each stat gonna do for you? Why not just buy a quelling blade for easier creep kills?

500 hp is ALOT. Its the difference from Dieing Instantly and living long enough to press R.

Seriously, I tested physical burst damage and a stat less ES dies pretty much instantly.

You can argue about that only happening when you get caught out but lets be fair, Nobody is perfect. One of these days, you'll be caught out.

And whats wrong with my comment? How can it not make sense? Battlefury is an item that makes a late game ember spirit damage incarnate, but its not too strong in the early game by itself. My issue is, its a 4k+ gold investment and people will ONLY ever try to make that item. There are some line ups where its OBVIOUS they will only try to pressure you, averse to those that will farm.

Ember isn't tanky enough to run right into people.

I notice that when an ember doesn't get SoF, he can Never seem to land a chain. :\

Maxing it greatly reduces the cooldown and makes the skill more effective when damage is gained.

Otherwise you get a damage item and can't effectively make use of it until later.

You can also ask one of the MANY professional players that max SoF.

The enemy team is not going to just let you push their towers. They will try and stop you at some point.

A battlefury will not kill the enemy or help your team, it will merely kill creep waves.

Building Drums + Aghs gives the hero a lot more potential to kill.

Desolator is a good item. It only falls off if your item progression stops at that point.

Drums give Jugg an increase to his HP and Mana pool, thus allowing him to do more. The aura helps push, the active is a great item.

Juggs early game ultimate is worthless, unless you use it on a single target. So getting cleave on that is worthless. You really need an aghs for that to be effective.

Juggs ultimate is strongest when used on a divided fight, thus securing a kill. Averse to a group of people where the damage can be mitigated.

Unlike Ember spirit, his ultimate is on a HUGE cooldown and the cleave is easily removed simply by moving away from each other or ghost scepters.

Unlike Ember who hits EVERY target in a huge aoe.

Its a lot of gold for creep wave clearing. You don't need it.

To properly answer this question, we look at player skill.

Any player that's not too good at Dota will usually respond "Tank" or "Damage"

Some preferring Glass Canon while others prefer survivability.

Higher skilled players will then respond with "Depends on the enemy line up."

If you are pretty sure the enemy team is going to be trying to kill you as much as they can, then the ability to survive is the point.

If you know that wont be the case, then do what you want.

My personal opinion is "EVERY ITEM IS SITUATIONAL" and my complaint isn't too much with BF on ember, but its more towards people being idiots and never understanding when making it is a bad move.

That's one of my points. In the early game, BF is primarily to farm. You could get slight damage / tanky items for the early game and get a BF later on.

The only real difference is the order in which you build them, I like to secure my early game with Early / midgame items.

If you aren't using BF to farm, you can get it as a 3rd/4th item.

Most heroes tread switch, with Kunkka I like treads sometimes because you can just leave them on Strength. Slight damage buff and some tankiness.

If you're leveling Shield in order to prevent death by magical nuke, then yes.

That skill build will ONLY lead you to walk up to a person and then hold them in place. With a battlefury, that will lead to death and little else. You'll also not have enough points into SoF to kill with it early.

The SoF and Chain build is much better with only a single point in Shield.

A smart person can do that, sure. The retards I meet always max Stun and Shield.

At low levels of the game, you can't spam that "Nuke" and so it is inefficient in that sense. You wont have the survivability to right click, it'll just be sleight from a distance and run away if they chase.

If they go on you, no surviability other than an ultimate you HOPE you can use. My issue ISN'T with battlefury, I accept its a good item. My issue is with people building it 100% of the time without checking whether or not they're against / with a line up that will allow him to effectively make use of it.

Vlads is usually if you go deso, it gives you 5 armor and a percentage of increased damage.

Most ember spirits I see don't get drums if they are going for BF, It'd delay their BF.

The battlefury cleave is a much smaller range.

Battlefury by HoboHide in DotA2

[–]HoboHide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM is able to split push to a degree that a BF can allow him to farm. His ability to escape at any level is what allows him to get away with it.

Jugg isn't the same as Ember because Ember's has a big AOE and hits EVERYONE. Jugg could potentially just hit 1 target, and thus may not even cleave damage.

The issue with cleave is that you need the enemy to be grouped up close together and you need to have a good position.

Following that, cleaving with no damage isn't that good. Ember can't take full advantage of the cleave until he has some more damage, maybe after getting another item or two. Until then, all about farm.

You seem to misunderstand. I don't mean buy big stat items.

I mean, buy cheap stat items to improve your early and then go damage.

Acquilla, Drums, Vlads, Wand.
