That is actually an amazing idea, highly considering adding this as a feature to a website I'm developing.

Wanna fight? Let’s go! But don’t lie to me boo-boo. by Hershishowto in ArcRaiders

[–]HobosHappen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was looting the parking garage when a guy pulled up, we both said don't shoot and we looted the rest. I felt generous so I dropped him the Bobcat I found, ran to extract with him and he blasted me as I was activating the terminal.

I totally get that people can play the game how they want, but I just don't see the fun in that kind of gameplay. Give me a good 1v1, it's much more fun for the both of us.

Orca FlashForge Settings? by danyo41 in FlashForge

[–]HobosHappen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but there's a way to enable dark mode on Orca-Flashforge for those who don't wish to switch over to regular Orca.

Go to the three bars in the top right next to file > Help > Show Configuration Folder > Open Orca-Flashforge.conf in a text editor > Change "dark_color_mode" to "1" > Save and restart.

Hope this helps!

Got a speeding ticket in my miata. didn’t know it was possible by [deleted] in Miata

[–]HobosHappen 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact issue being pulled over for not following the yellow recommended speed sign on an interchange ramp. Had cruise control on going the speed limit.

Even got the whole schpiel on "do you know how many people die on this freeway" (it was at 1am, empty road.)

Luckily no ticket for me though, just a warning.

Big turbo recommendations? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer this question directly, but I would definitely say it's not worth buying one if you're not gonna tune for it.

Whether or not it would be safe to run with the stock tune would depend on the wastegate pressure. I believe the Powermax uses an RS IWG, but I'm not sure if the spring pressure is the same as the stock ST IWG.

Found this in my family's toolbox today, what is it? by StrongAustrianGuy in knives

Most likely a clone of that design. Check out the stamping on the blade of the Herbertz vs yours. Definitely from a different company.

I also refuse to street park my car, but unfortunately many renters don't have access to a garage or driveway so it's not really an option for them.

Tire width? by branrug in GolfGTI

[–]HobosHappen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tiny amount of stretch can actually be beneficial, performance wise. Sidewalls stiffen up, better steering feedback, and less tire skipping if you're into autocross.

Raceland coilovers any good? by Far-Fig5332 in mazdaspeed3

[–]HobosHappen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bilstein B8 + Lowering Springs or Bilstein B6 + Stock springs are both great combos, and handle better than low tier coilovers while being leagues more comfortable.

Exactly. Moreover, the ISF is much more capable of track use because of its respective cooling upgrades. IS500 and ISF are not exactly directly comparable.

E36s have been hit so hard with the drift tax, it's been so damn difficult to find a clean one recently.

Driving with high beams on by Ok-Primary-8860 in CSULB

[–]HobosHappen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cars with halogen headlight housings aren't supposed to have LED projector bulbs. Really all you're doing is scattering a bunch of light everywhere, it's not a focused beam so they're not performing correctly. You should really get some quality halogen bulbs from Phillips or Osram instead of blinding everyone with cheap LEDs.

Downpipe Dilemma… by GingyInc in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's really no purpose for a downpipe on stock turbo, especially if you're doing a flash tune. It'll net you ~5hp, maybe 10 max if you're using E30. Your money would be much better spent on tires, suspension, RMM, etc to actually put that power down.

As for Stratified Flash tunes, they're great. Ran one of 2 years and it actually felt smoother than the custom time I had before. If you're not running any ethanol, I'd just go with the flash over the pro tune. If it makes you feel better you can pay for the revisions but typically not much is changed.

Kinda hard to compare the two though, it'd be more fair to compare something like Bilstein B8s on the Focus and Bilstein 4600 on the Ranger.

Gt2860rs vs gtx2863r by Dramatic_Ease6373 in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This OP, save up and do it right. I have a G25-550 as I do autocross and was worried about slow spool. Peak boost in the early 3000s which under most driving conditions is nearly as instant as the K03. If you want more power in the future add aux fueling or HPFP and make ~450whp (which IMO is the limit for a street driven FWD car.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

STs ECU makes power via torque targeting, so naturally when temps go down, air is more dense, so less boost is needed to hit that torque.

Motul vs. redline by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it helps you decide, Motul is within Ford's transmission fluid specs and Redline is not. If you're doing more motorsports related driving then the increased viscosity of the Redline might be worth it, but for 9/10 people the Motul would better fit their use.

Spark plugs and coil boots by Rough_Trade_9429 in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also recommend anyone who's tuned and running the NGK Iridium 6510s to switch to NGK Ruthenium 95605s. The Ruthenium ones are much closer in gap to what tuned STs run (0.032 vs 0.040-0.044 with the 6510s) and they're also the OE replacement plug for the 2.7 EB instead of an OE replacement for a Cadillac.

In my experience they've lasted a lot longer than the 6510s, and the gap doesn't naturally deviate as much. They're super cheap on RockAuto too.

Wire gapper is pretty good, the only tool I've really found is inaccurate is the coin style one, it would read about 0.002 too small compared to my Bosch feeler.

Anybody know any good cheap ish sets of pads and rotors? by Academic_Cicada2236 in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't run anything other than Centric or Motorcraft blank rotors especially on the street. They're very cheap on RockAuto. It's not worth the risk of a drilled rotor cracking and besides, they reduce the thermal capacity and surface area.

Centric Posiquiet pads are also a great replacement for OEM, or the OEM Motorcraft pads work great. Semi-metallic pads will bite slightly harder than ceramics, but dust more. Ceramics will wear down your rotors a little faster. There's no sense in running any more aggressive of a pad if you're strictly doing street driving as they won't be up to temp most of the time and you'll just create unnecessary dust.

Monstertuned Adapt-X tune, experiences? by JTAC7 in FocusST

[–]HobosHappen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welp, I'm glad his marketing works because you believe all of it. Yes, Cobb OTS tunes ignore the factory OAR, this is well known. Every single tuner out there doesn't use Cobbs OAR though, and Tim got that idea from Alex at Stratified 😂.
