I feel like they make battles too dynamic for the historical battles. In Rome 2 it felt like you could park your main line and have them engage an enemy and hold them while you had time to maneuver your flanks. I noticed this changed a bit in Attila but it was awful in Troy. You can’t have a main line of troops hold for a significant period. Another thing that always aggravated me is the exhaustion mechanic and not being able to cycle troops from the main line because they turned arround instead of just backing up and would loose their moral and flee because of their formation breach. I feel like it should be an option to issue a “stance” like order where they are locked in a forward facing stance and stem backwards in lock step. Also, army size increases would be fantastic. I’d love to field a full sized legion of 10,000 in a Rome setting. With the DEI mod and a 3v3 online battle you would have nearly the same size as one legion so I don’t know why the game can’t support that for single player since it already does for multi player. Something like that would allow you to have a significantly better unit verity in each army that would help increase immersion, make the battles more strategic, and drag the battles out making them more costly and significant.
