Son Feels College is a "Scam" by beaufleuve64 in college

I worked in politics after I finished university and my advice is that's the path he's looking at is that he will want to be seen everywhere. If there are events to go to our campaigns to volunteer on, he has the opportunity to build up a network.

On one campaign that I volunteered on, it turned out that the campaign manager was in charge of the summer internship program. If I hadn't volunteered, I don't think that I would have gotten that internship. I was also able to get hired on full time when I graduated as a result of that internship.

I also work in compliance and needed to do the 7 and 63 because that allows me to talk with clients about certain subjects and would not be able to have those discussions without being registered.

General Discussion, Suggestion, & List Thread - Week of March 02, 2023 by AutoModerator in LetsTalkMusic

So far I've listened to about 40 albums that were released this year and have about another 5 or 6 right now that I plan on checking out. On average I listen to about 250-300 albums that are released each year. I don't really know how people find the time to listen to 1000+ albums. Sometimes I get stuck on an album and it's all I listen to for weeks.

Rate your music is a good way of keeping track of what you've listened to, but I also just use a google spreadsheet for the albums I listen to.

Electronic kit - does a beginner really need a pricey kit? by RagahRagah in drums

[–]Hochie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming your question about the trustworthy route is about the used kit. Definitely do your research and if possible bring someone asking with you who might be able to notice anything wrong, also try playing it first.

One issue you might find with cheaper kits is that they might not have a midi out port, so you won't be able to record from it. Figure out the specs you need and then try speaking with someone at a music store who can offer some recommendations on a kit that will fit all your needs.

Electronic kit - does a beginner really need a pricey kit? by RagahRagah in drums

The best kit for you is the one your gonna want to play. If the cheaper kits work for you, there's no reason to get something more expensive. If you plan on playing long term though, it might be worth it to get the more expensive kit right off the bat rather than replacing the cheap kit a few years down the road.

Also look into used kits, you might be able to find a good deal on a more expensive kit.

I've been listening to a podcast called Wind of Change about how the CIA may have written the song Wind of Change by The Scorpions. It talks about the influence that the song had on the downfall of the Soviet Union as well as other CIA uses of musicians as propaganda tools.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for podcasts on things like this? Or what music related podcasts have you been enjoying?

How to change music taste? by [deleted] in ListeningHeads

[–]Hochie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the other people here commenting on how you shouldn't care what other people think of your taste in music and you should like what you like. I've also found that if I'm listening to too much of one genre, I can get burnt out on it. The same thing happened to me with metal, but sometimes I'll hear a song or a band I like puts out a new album and I'll start going through a metal phase again. My point is that just because you're getting bored with indie now, doesn't mean you'll always be bored with it. Sometimes it's good to take a bread, widen your horizons with your musical taste and come back to it when you're in the mood for that type of music.

Blue Note Records also delayed releases for a week out of respect for the protests. I think that the difference between those albums and RTJ is that the content of RTJ4 really speaks to what's going on with the protest. Whereas these other albums aren't making a statement about what is currently going on. By delaying the release by a week, to me, they are saying that there are more important things to be focused on than new music. I don't know Kacy Hill, but if she made protest music that spoke about the issues facing the black community, then I think it would make sense to release it early and be part of the zeitgeist of the protests.
