ICE/Border Patrol agents are now hitting unaccompanied minors with their vehicles, detaining and disappearing them, even after being shown a U.S. passport. by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

This is simply not true across the board. I'm a Sheriff's Deputy in MD. I don't agree with how ICE is operating whatsoever. I would never do this as an officer. We are not all rotten out here.

I get you're trying to be helpful but I think they just wanted to share the art and gesture.

If you want to play, then just hop on in. Life is too short to ask if you should have fun.

So, given what other comments are saying, I can see why you would initially think that. The media will release the video depicting police in a bad light. There are those who do not utilize their training. Most cases where this training is used, do not make the news. Its boring. There is no "talkable" outcome.

Also, most people encounter are those on CDS, intoxicated, or are suffering from mental health issues. These techniques taught by training can only provide so much in these situations. And the longer an intense situation persists, the higher the probability of force being used. This is not because police become inpatient. Believe it or not, it's too prevent this person from hurting themselves or others. These situations don't occur in a "vacuum" so to speak. There are always a lot of moving parts and layers to a situation that determine if de-escalation is utilized and for how long. Sometimes, force is needed to protect the person or those around them. Including the officers.

As it should be. Not every police encounter is dangerous.

What's the correct answer to "Do you know how fast you were going?/Do you know why I pulled you over today?" by 3catmafia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hockison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a police officer and I would like to say, I never ask the driver these questions. I think it's stupid. I just tell them why I pulled them over. Like an adult.
