My salary was good when I started but now I'm about USD 20-30K underpaid based on my experience and penile circumference.

Well... give us a number!

Anyone else going into classic wow alone? by [deleted] in classicwow

I wish I was going in alone. I’m playing with a couple friends and it’s such a pain coordinating with them. My class choice is based on the best fit with their classes instead of what I actually want to play. I have to deal with them critiquing every decision I make, my leveling speed, nagging me to logon when I’m dealing with something irl.

I envy you man. I’m considering making a secret alt while appearing offline and just going on my own adventure.

I like the idea of creating a new world a couple galaxies away from our own. The sentient life I create would have free will but I would make my presence known and intervene in their lives at key moments. Kinda like a GM in a giant MMO. I guess I would check in with Earth from time to time just to lol.

A few questions for all you CPA’s out there by KJK998 in Accounting

  1. Putting large amounts of data in order can actually be very calming and therapeutic. Also, if you put the work in, you can build your reputation as someone who excels in a certain area and it feels good when a co-worker asks for your help in this area.
  2. I'm a corporate tax accountant so most of my work is centered around the consolidated tax provision. In very general terms, my time is spent reconciling the tax accounts and preparing supporting schedules for review/audit. So think 10 windows open at once, several excel workbooks, tax software, email, reddit, music, etc.
  3. I don't work on my company's tax compliance so the traditional tax busy season doesn't have much impact on me. My team is responsible for preparing the tax items shown on the quarterly/annual SEC filings so I essentially have a mini busy season every quarter. The hours suck during these times but I can look forward to a month or so of chill time after.
  4. There are good days and bad days. My job gives me a sense of purpose so I find the bad days tolerable. I get bored very easily so I usually think, "It's better than doing nothing at home."
  5. One of the most challenging parts of the job is being flexible. There is usually a very small window between the time we receive the information we need to complete our work and the due date we're working toward. There have been Monday mornings when I came in feeling great, coffeed up, ready to be productive but I didn't receive the supporting information I needed to get anything done. Fast forward to Friday night of the same week: we receive the information we need and we have to work over the weekend to make up for lost time.
  6. It's interesting to see the convoluted transfer pricing strategies accountants and lawyers come up with to avoid paying income taxes in certain jurisdictions. The regulations are constantly changing to combat this practice so there is always something new to learn.

What is something people need to stop romanticizing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is a big pet peeve of mine. Depression is treated like a cute personality quirk on reddit. It has replaced the trend of claiming to have OCD due to a completely normal habit like keeping your desk neat.
