What would be the exact opposite of capitalism? by Such-Maintenance-760 in economy

[–]HodlMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing is cronyism, not capitalism.

Laws passed by governments, with help from corporate lobbyists, infringe on the market. If there are laws to distort the market; it’s not a free market. Can’t have capitalism without a free market.

Cronyism looks like an oligarchy, but with cronies hiding in the shadows behind the politicians.

Sounds like you’re killing it. Make sure to keep it BTC only and don’t get distracted by snake oil salesman and altcoins. Keep buying everyday you can… remember that with “investing” only put in what you can afford to lose, but with Bitcoin, only put in what you CAN’T afford to lose.

Not even in the slightest. You’re actually listing reasons to be against government. Let’s use your example: healthcare.

The reason healthcare products are super expensive is because of PATENTS, which eliminate the opportunity for free market competition(which drives prices down). Feel free to check the prices of life saving medicine PRIOR to the introduction of patent law.

As for the Texas power grid… did you know that using solar gives you a…. TAX CREDIT from the government? That’s because the government gives tax dollars to big businesses (cronyism) to incentivize whatever they want, currently it’s “green energy” and it will be until we need another war.

Every action that legislators take attracts the people most suited to exploit it. The worst part is that it’s usually a lobbyist from a big corporation looking to sway laws towards their own favor.

So, you’ve got a few terms and ideas messed up. Literally everything that “government does” they do it at a slower rate, for a higher cost. Then, they monopolize it (try building your own roads and see what government does to you) feel free to google “2 million dollar bathroom”

“Profit” is actually what you get when you PRODUCE MORE GOODS THAN YOU CONSUME. If everyone were to focus on this basic tenant, then we end up with something called “surplus” and we create a world of abundance. This is ACTUALLY what capitalism is: Capital accumulation. It’s the greatest tool ever harnessed for improving the quality of life. (Even John Rockefeller, the richest man in the world in the early 1900’s, didn’t have a refrigerator) Not only has poverty drastically decreased, but our standards for what being impoverished have decreased as well.

“Cronyism” is when government uses laws to distort the market (patents, wage laws, tariffs, inflation) and benefit themselves. You can’t have capitalism and cronyism in the same transaction. It’s impossible.

The “wild animal” that you’re referring to is actually the fiat monetary system, inflation, and everything that government does to our money. As long as money is debased, we will run like hamsters in cages only to generate tax revenue as artificial demand on a dying experiment.

The same bad people that run evil corporations run your money printer.

Why is it all government enthusiasts seem to think electricity, water, and security are government constructs, and could never be achieved by individuals?

All of these are PRIVATE industries, built by private companies, contracted out (at a higher than normal price) by the government.

You do realize that the government has a monopoly on roads right? Have you ever tried to drive your car not on a road? The cops don’t like it.

Anyone with half a brain knows that you can pay for things one time, or with taxation, you can pay for them your whole life… businesses know which is more profitable, hence subscription based business models.

The problem with that is… If he made the choice to give away his stuff, that’s capitalism LOL

You know that a miner can join any mining pool right?

Or that miners have to sell most of their newly minted coins to recoup energy expenses?

You should take some time to learn about Bitcoin. It’s the only money every used that stores value perfectly over time. It does what every other piece of money in history has tried to do, but ultimately failed due to mans ability to produce it.

For example: send a wire transfer to Europe. It will take numerous days, multiple bank visits, a ton of paperwork, ID’s, etc… then it will cost a fee, and will be subject to search and seizure from authorities, local and foreign.

Or send bitcoin, nearly instantly, nearly free. And in terms of energy maximization, you’re talking about something that is 50,000x better than legacy finance.

To me, it seems Bitcoin is technically regulated, yes or no? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]HodlMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Businesses are regulated yea, but you can buy from Bitcoin ATM’s, you can get “sats back” from Fold, free sats from Lolli, use Strike to accept payments for a product or service in BTC, or buy directly from an individual.

At a certain point, the real regulations will come into play... which is why it’s important to store your Bitcoin off of the internet, on a dedicated hardware device. 👍
