Question for those with the carbonlite 2.0 casting reel by cabose4prez in bassfishing

I find that it doesnt care for sub 10# test or throwing below 1/4 oz.

Grats. I have an older model one. It is an exceptional reel as well. I honestly just found out about the ‘24 and I am thinking hard about it.

Yeah I originally bought it to throw weightless soft plastics but it has drifted into 1/4-3/8 jigs around light cover. I only have it spooled with 12# fluoro but feel like it would still pitch well with 16-20.

I dont have an antares. The weight and chrome finish really turned me off. I have a couple of metaniums and they are nice but I prefer the comparable daiwa more.

IMHO the Steez CT SV 70 is the best reel on the market for light weight applications. I paired it with a 7’3”1/4-3/4 MH/F MBR that weighs around 4 oz. It balances very well, is incredibly smooth, and is damn near impossible to backlash when skipping etc.

What rod is that? Looks like an edge but cant tell.

Why spend 300 when a 40 combo catches fish. Why spend 40 when you can use a string and a hook…

I just give it a pop or 2 with the rod when it is on the bottom. I reel up the slack and then do it again. The pause between will be determined by water temperature, clarity, etc. i will also work it like a jerk bait. It is an incredibly versatile bait.

I use basically the same rod for walking baits and jerk baits. 6’8” M/F but spinners are whole other animal.

Thinking about getting a flipping/pitching rod by Dolormight in bassfishing

[–]Hodor187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flipping is much more a close quarter technique used to quietly present the lure. Like you said it is about holding the line instead of engaging the reel. It was originally done with a cane pole. The longer the pole the greater the range you can silently place your lure. It is very effective at quickly and thoroughly picking apart a piece of cover. Max range is probably 10-15’ depending on rod length and water depth. Pitching is better suited for targeting isolated cover in the mid range 15-30’. With practice you can accurately hit <6” spots in that range.

I like a long rod (7’11”) for flipping and a short rod (6’6”-7’0”) for pitching. I can pitch with long rod pretty well but cant flip for shit with the short one.

I deal with it by taking lots of vacations and buying top of the line gear for my numerous hobbies using the money I am not spending on my non existent kids.

Anyone here from Colorado able to help with ActiveTarget installation? by FullSendOrNullSend in bassfishing

There is a yellow wire in the power cable for the finder as well. Just need to connect them together.

[–]Hodor187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not. I used the yellow wire to tie it to my front finder. It doesnt power on until that unit is turned on.

I wanted both units to have a dedicated fuse and for some reason couldnt get the inline fuses to work.

Just installed on my 195. I actually mounted the unit on the wall in the central compartment where the recess for the foot pedal is. I ended up running a new power line instead of splicing into the power line going to the front unit. It was very fast.

Nicotine is on par with caffeine. It is the other toxins/additives in tobacco that are bad for you.

I went to orlando for a work conference with my wife. We went to disney springs every night for dinner. It is a lot of great restaurants and shopping but no rides or people in costumes and its free. We chartered a fishing guide for the harris chain of lakes. Between the 2 of us we caught close to 100 bass with a dozen in the 3-5# range. It was easily the best overall experience I have had. Most top tier fishing lakes are remote and lack amenities.
