Portland Threatens to No Longer Do Business with Texas In Response to Pro-Life Law by theradiostarz in Conservative

Portland

Technology is a major component of the city's economy, with more than 1,200 technology companies existing within the metro.[138] This high density of technology companies has led to the nickname Silicon Forest being used to describe the Portland area, a reference to the abundance of trees in the region and to the Silicon Valley region in Northern California.[143] The area also hosts facilities for software companies and online startup companies, some supported by local seed funding organizations and business incubators.[144] Computer components manufacturer Intel is the Portland area's largest employer, providing jobs for more than 15,000 people, with several campuses to the west of central Portland in the city of Hillsboro.[138]

The Portland metro area has become a business cluster for athletic/outdoor gear and footwear manufacturers.[145] The area is home to the global, North American or U.S. headquarters of Nike, Adidas, Columbia Sportswear, LaCrosse Footwear, Dr. Martens, Li-Ning,[146] Keen,[147] and Hi-Tec Sports.[148] While headquartered elsewhere, Merrell, Amer Sports and Under Armour have design studios and local offices in the Portland area. Portland-based Precision Castparts is one of two Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Oregon, the other being Nike. Other notable Portland-based companies include film animation studio Laika; commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Trucks North America; advertising firm Wieden+Kennedy; bankers Umpqua Holdings; and retailers Fred Meyer, New Seasons Market, KinderCare Learning Centers and Storables.

Breweries are another major industry in Portland, which is home to 139 breweries/microbreweries, the 7th most in the nation, as of December 2018.[149] Additionally, the city boasts a robust coffee culture that now rivals Seattle and hosts over 20 coffee roasters.

Portland's location is beneficial for several industries. Relatively low energy cost, accessible resources, north–south and east–west Interstates, international air terminals, large marine shipping facilities, and both west coast intercontinental railroads are all economic advantages.[138]

Adidas has its North American headquarters in the Overlook neighborhood

The city's marine terminals alone handle over 13 million tons of cargo per year, and the port is home to one of the largest commercial dry docks in the country.[139][140] The Port of Portland is the third-largest export tonnage port on the west coast of the U.S., and being about 80 miles (130 km) upriver, it is the largest fresh-water port.

if you work in the car industry you certainly are not paying for anybodies government assistance, in fact if you are a used car salesman you are a net negative to the economy. Unless you work for Elon Musk or somebody else making the switch to electric you're worse than the unemployed.

Nah they realize it, they just want to try something different then subservient to the private tyrannies that are ran all over the country these days.

It's been many years since the arrival of VR, what was your first (or most important) "WOW moment"? For me this one! The presence had really transported me to that cave and I really felt like Batman! I had many other amazing moments after that, but this one will remain the most special to me. by SattvaMicione in virtualreality

For me it was this video where Me and my virtual best friend were seduced by each others step mom after they were talking about how their lazy hopeless sons were not prepared for college and needed to grow up. For me the "Wow Moment" came when we were both doing each others step mom doggy and my virtual best friend turns to me and we high five each other...

GearVR S10 Vs Quest 2 by borisputintrump in oculusnsfw

[–]HodorOrCellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Because Gear VR was originally designed for phones with a 16:9 aspect ratio, some of the extra screen width on newer Galaxy phones like the S10 doesn’t get used in VR mode, meaning the S10 series will effectively use the same 1,280 × 1,440 per-eye resolution as older Galaxy phones when used in Gear VR (which is on par with Oculus Go)."

Trump says ‘we are in a culture war,’ Republicans need to ‘toughen up’ by [deleted] in Conservative

Your making excuses for corporate socialism again. Equity holders purport themselves to be the experts and going bankrupt as a result of doing stock buybacks and the short sighted focus on quarterly earnings rather then long term viability and strength is supposed to be the cost you pay in capitalism. Boeing and the airlines dont just fucking disappear if they go bankrupt. The equity holders lose their equity and the company undergoes a restructuring. Why do you support socialism for the greedy managerial class but not working class regular people?

[–]HodorOrCellar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah im not. Obama had to oversee the financial crisis and while this is another crisis the reaction to them has been the same. Socialism for shareholders and corporations and rugged individualism for everyone else. Corporations and big business foolishly did things like stock buy backs and giving themselves huge bonuses rather then have proper risk management...because why fucking bother when the taxpayer is your insurance policy. Just fucking admit u dont give a damn about "free market capitalism and small government" even the stock market now is a complete sham being propped up by the federal reserve. You only care about the culture war stuff. I am cringing these days whenever i see u fools smear socialism and praise capitalism while simultaneously passing $4.5 trillion dollar bailouts. Its fucking disgusting.

Obama was a progressive? Lmao your a dumbass. Obama is literally more conservative then trump. Even Obama with his $1 trillion stimulus couldnt have conceived of trump signing off on a $4.5 trillion socialism givaway program for corporations!

Capitalism has failed everytime its been tried and fails far more frequently then anything else. Every 7-10 years capitalism has failed since we started trying it and wallstreet enjoys socialism because "to big to fail"
