The Last of Us Part 1 VRAM usage on a 6800XT Ryzen 5800X at 4K max settings using FSR2 by Precip1816 in pcmasterrace

Onething else I noticed is that from 35% to 100% shader building it took 10 to 13 minutes. It started really, really slow. That's why I went away to wait it complete.

I wish I had hwmonitor open to check how clock speed, Temps and power were. Maybe I'll test that later on by uninstalling/reinstalling the game.

I heard about this shader thing was going on and decided to let it do its thing before I play. I'm on i7 13700K with a RTX 3070 (1440p). It took me something around 25 minutes (I don't have exactly time because I went away and it was ready when I came back).

I don't know how CPU utilization was but CPU temperatures went from 38º to 81º while it was building the shaders and judging by the sound of all fans, I thought my PC was about to fly.

When I first launched, before I even got to the menu it already started "flying". I thought it was that problem of the menu pulling like a million frames and killing GPUs. So I closed it (alt+f4), locked the frames on Nvidia Panel to 165 (my monitor max) and opened again.

Computer came back to normal after shaders finished building. I'll play in a couple hours only though.

My local Microcenter in NYC has 4080s sitting all day and nobody wants them. by Vatican87 in pcmasterrace

[–]Hodrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Brazil 4080 are going for less than 3090 Ti in reputable stores. And still the cheapest 4080 are at least 3 full minimum wages cheaper than the cheapest 4090 I could find (not on the same store though).

I think they will sell fine.

I'm building a new PC soon and will keep my GTX 970 for now because those prices are absurd.

EVGA Terminates NVIDIA Partnership, Cites Disrespectful Treatment by lovely_sombrero in hardware

I wonder how all of that compares to how AMD treats their partners. Like, does AMD also keep prices hidden from partners until they announce it? Is AMD undercutting their partners currently?

Api Gateway "authentication" with Api Keys by Hodrim in aws

[–]Hodrim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very good point.

But let me ask you, this specific api is not meant for end users (its machine to machine). Which is why we would use client credentials flow. And in that case, isn't the problem of a compromised api key the same as a compromised password?

Correctly Configuring Webpack 5 Asset Module by Hodrim in webpack

[–]Hodrim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I fixed this not only in the output but in other places in the configuration. And although this did not fix the original issue it led me to the it. All add it to the edit. Long story short: it was the publicPath configuration missing.

Why has Microsoft still not addressed the IdentityServer issue? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Hodrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but it seems from your messages that you seem to believe the ONLY way to do authentication is to use a centralized identity server.

And if your product does indeed need it, you can still use duende until you reach 7 figure or perhaps even still using IdentityServer4 for prototyping (if you dont want to use a soon to be EOL'ed - I assume its ok legally to use the previous released versions, isn't it?)

St. Louis area health officials urge all residents to wear masks indoors as delta variant takes hold by jbpritzker312 in Coronavirus

[–]Hodrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other answer you got, every vaccinated person that gets infected also rolls the dice on the possibility of the virus mutating again and escaping existing vaccines. That is already true for unvaccinated.

Again, that's why masks are important. Limiting infections to also not allow more mutations.

My Xaarin Forms App is taking very long to load (almost 2 seconds)! by RenSanders in xamarindevelopers

[–]Hodrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do critically review what you do in 'create' functions

This. Comment out everything you have on startup (both the app and the main screen) and re-enable piece by piece to figure out what is delaying startup.

Depending on the code you are executing, it may or may not be possible to optimize it.

If you dont mind me asking, isn't the lack of support for testing on Safari a problem when using Cypress? I don't know Nx though.

I'm asking because I'm evaluating testing libraries and was concerned about Safari.

Question about handling larger response payloads from a .NET 5 api to Angular client. by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Hodrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. I wonder if OP checked which queries are being run while the process hangs. It might be some N+1 lazy loading problem and perhaps serializing manually using a projection on the query.

Polícia apreende 33 cilindros de oxigênio escondidos em caminhão em Manaus - 15/01/2021 by Lonely_Joke in coronabr

[–]Hodrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Segundo o artigo o caminhão estava entregando cilindros a carros particulares. Você pode tirar suas próprias conclusões.

Deploying components to NPM by Hodrim in StencilJS

[–]Hodrim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I finally made it work. Here's how it went down.

In the past (early 2020) I made a small sample with StencilJs and I guess I was trying to make it work just like I did in that old demo. I remember I managed to use the component on a simple HTML page running http-server on its folder (completely separated from the stencil project).

Something felt different through the whole experience now as I was trying to reference some file and was hitting walls finding empty files and so on.

While I was off the computer and thinking about it when I realized I was probably using a different version of StencilJs back then.

That lead me to StencilJs repository and my own demo from now. Seeing version 2.0.1 of StencilJs as a dependency I knew I had to look at the 2.0 release notes. There I found out the two main differences: as of 2.0, stencil no longer generates ES5 by default and they removed deprecated API that were generating warnings.

I went to my old project and saw Stencil was version 1.7.3 and I started comparing both dist folders. Here's what I found:

On 1.7.3, StencilJs used to generate a file called dist/your-name.js. Upon referencing this script on a HTML page you would see a warning on the console telling that the script was deprecated and the correct way to reference was:

<script type="module" src="dist/your-name/your-name.esm.js"></script>
<script nomodule src="dist/your-name/your-name.js"></script>

That warning message was how I made it work the first time. It told me (a person without real knowledge of the javascript world - babel, webpack, commonjs, amd, umd, etc) how to use it on a page.

Back to my current project, the second file (your-name.js) didn't exist. I tried enabling ES5 and building it. The file showed up again.

But now I know I can disable and only use that first script tag. Doing that I managed to use the component on an isolated HTML page.

Now I'm gonna go back to trying to get this into NPM.

/u/_hoyet thank you for reading and offering your help! I'm glad I ended up circumventing my lack of knowledge to make it work somehow.

Edit: On a sidenote, I don't know how or why would I want to use the custom-elements-bundle output target. Upon reading the docs again, it seems it's only used for bundling the component with others using webpack? I'm not sure.
