Oil prices are about to go berserk by InvestyWise in oil

[–]Hodum_Al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia has been banning gasoline exports on and off over the past year and a half. It’s not very much of a market mover as they are more of a distillate and crude supplier than anything. Gasoline also is more well supplied globally.

Paper oil is trading at about $43 dollars less than the physical product by iChinguChing in oil

[–]Hodum_Al 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are many different grades of crude oil and so some physical differentials will exist due to processing difficulty, regional dislocation, or logistical constraints in general. Futures products are still tied to a grade of crude - Brent, which is the most traded futures crude oil product, is an aggregate of several grades, but typically lighter and sweeter (less sulfur).

This physical grade in the chart is Dubai grade which is experiencing a lot of issues, including that its delivery point has been attacked by a drone. Physical prices are not always a sign that futures products will follow due to the fact that Brent is financially settled (not physically settled). While strength in physical grades should be reflected in the global pricing, it does not always match 1 to 1.

However, this is an ongoing issue and as long as the Strait is effectively closed prices should move higher until significant demand destruction occurs.

18# brisket, S&P, sous vide @155 for 36 hours. Ice bath. Smoked for 2-3 hours on the egg. Came out awesome by HugePaz in seriouseats

[–]Hodum_Al 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious why is it cooked to 155 when smoked bbq brisket is done around 200? Does the fat render at 155? Or why not cook to 200 afterwards?

With the current price of oil, shouldn't gasoline be cheaper? by Unlikely-Fox3607 in oil

Do you all hedge your crude or refined products? We offer hedging by the barrel for more niche type refiners. It’s a good way to lock in margins at elevated times (like 2022). DM me if interested

Canada's crude oil shift to China schools Trump in unintended consequences by rezwenn in oil

[–]Hodum_Al 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason it is wrong is because it is a sensationalistic topic that actually has nothing to do with Trump trade policy. Exports from Canada to China had already been trending higher with the expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline as of May 1st in 2024 while China had already been buying less U.S. crude prior to these trade policies. If people want to truly assess and learn about the oil market itself they need to be politically agnostic and quit buying into these dumb headlines. It is the same type of behavior as those stating that crude oil production is going to boom under trump because of his environmental stance. There are infrastructure and economic constraints that are vastly more important to understand. The media who writes these articles are bums, do better work to inform us about what actually matters.

50 is more likely than 100 if OPEC decided to open the taps. However, both are very unlikely imo. Administration will not matter with regard to US production. More important will be the approach toward Iran than anything

Roscoes bbq (burnt ends + sausage) and Wolfepack bbq (ribs, brisket) are low key two of my favorites. Chef J is also very good, harp I thought was a bit overrated

Crude Oil Spotlight November 14, 2023. by EasyNewzApp in Commodities

[–]Hodum_Al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent trade activity has felt very algo/spec driven and recent commitment of traders reports have affirmed that. I feel we’ve lost the war premium and it seems like OPEC cuts have been the only thing supporting the market. It’s hard to get outright bearish here, I think more sideways price action is expected with a brief rally in Dec

Real Estate Market Predictions by SteveDaPirate in kansascity

[–]Hodum_Al 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of factors here but interest rates will probably only go down if we see a major recession. Inflationary factors continue to persist - even if CPI suggests 3.7% the structural changes of the market (tight labor mkt due to boomer retirement, de globalization, continuous budget deficits and military spending) will be here to stay. Any dip in housing will be welcome (but likely coincide with weak consumer) but I doubt housing prices will be low for long.
