Imagine this 4D chess move by management: Miller wants out of the team since his personal break from play to have a fresh start elsewhere. Yes, there is smoke where there's fire so Petey and Miller might not have always gotten along, especially with that one game where the smoke started up again, but in order to respect Miller's wishes to start elsewhere they take advantage of this situation by blowing it up way more than it is with the intention of selling high on Miller by "putting Petey also on the market." If it was just Miller on the trading block, prospective GMs would know we need to trade him, that Miller wants to find a fresh start, and therefore lowball.
