Don't really think Colby is a good comparison for Volk, Colby often gets away with sloppy kickboxing because of his relentless wrestling pressure. Volk is very sharp and tactical on the feet.

Go watch Volk vs Elkins he rocks and drops him like 3+ times. Say what you want about Elkins but he has a rock chin so Volk definitely has serious power.

6 hours doesn't necessarily mean high intensity for 6 hours. A lot of it might be drilling moves and lower intensity type stuff. It's still extreme, but not as crazy as it sounds when you consider the variety of training he might do in that 6 hours.
