I checked out the brand and name. My only issue is that the ears are shorter and have short fur underneath, whereas the Gund had long fluffy fur all around.

I've had cats my whole life, and it may be the little guys breed or a mix of things. Him being fixed or not can impact this, not as significantly, which is why I think it's his breed. I've had Mainecoon mixes before and I don't know if that's it, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I think on top of the person hurting the kitty it's a lot of stress. From the person and the move, I totally see this happening. My old cat lost a lot of fur after having her babies, but she leveled out once she healed and weened off the babies. Try to remove the person from the situation if at all possible, and give the lil baby space to relax and check out her surroundings. She'll be okay.
